Brian Bloom Green Lantern and Adam Strange Interview

Adam Strange‘s “strange” adventures were explored in Green Lantern: Beware My Power. We at the Illuminerdi were granted the opportunity to speak to the man behind the voice of the cosmic hero.

The latest Green Lantern movie, following John Stewart’s version of the character, received a luke-warm basket of below-average reviews. The audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes is at 64% while the critic’s rating is currently at 33%.  In the animated movie, Stewart is accompanied by the Green Arrow, Hawkgirl, and Martian Manhunter. Another character included in the movie is Adam Strange.

Strange is a superhero created by Julius Schwartz in 1957. He made his debut the following year in comic Showcase #17. The on-screen debut of the character was on the series Krypton. Unlike some of the more famous superheroes, Adam does not have superhuman strength or any superhuman abilities as a matter of fact. However, he is a highly capable archeologist and thinker. It is said that his intellect is on par with some of the most intelligent DC superheroes.

In Green Lantern: Beware My Power, Strange isn’t exactly like the one we’ve come to know. We asked Bloom what he found most interesting about the character as he dove into deeper into his lore.

“His humanity and how grounded he is in something we can all understand which is how much he loves his family, and how much he believes in the truth. In this story, he is so willing to sacrifice everything that he lovers for the greater good. In many ways, he shares some of that DNA with Jon Stewart. This is an origin story for Jon Stewart, who has a touch of PTS and is looking for a second chance. A new life. He and Adam Strange share a little of that. They’re both looking for purpose.”

Is Brian Bloom Teasing A Live-Action Adam Strange?

During this exclusive interview, Bloom answered if he would be willing to play a live-action version of Adam Strange.

“I grew up watching the super friends as a kid, so being a part of this is a real honor and kind of a trip for me. I’d love to be involved in the continued adventures if somebody asked me to for sure. “

If an Adam Strange project was brewing behind the scenes, I don’t think it survived the massive cuts Warner Brothers Discovery performed during this past week. Several projects, including the finished Batgirl movie with Leslie Grace, Michael Keaton, J. K. Simmons, and Brendan Fraser. The company reported a net loss of $3.4 billion in its first quarter. Apart from Batgirl, Scoob: Holiday Haunt, Wonder Twins, Demimonde, and a series of other shows were canceled across all departments. It seems like Peacemaker and The Last of Us are safe for now.

Is The DCEU In Good Hands?

With a variety of projects being cut, fans can’t help but wonder if the DCEU is safe from the cuts. Black Adam is still scheduled for release. Fans are practically begging for Henry Cavill to return as Superman, meanwhile, The Flash movie is still a big question mark due to Ezra Miller’s recent run-in with the law.

What are your expectations? Are you worried about the future of DC projects? Would you like to see Bloom as a live-action Adam Strange? Do you think these cuts are a blessing in disguise or a snowball effect is bound to come? Don’t forget to follow us on our social media, activate the notification bell, and leave us a comment.
