One of the most anticipated films of the year is The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Nintendo has partnered with Universal Studios and Illumination Entertainment to bring the legendary character back to the big screen after almost 30 years! This time the film is 3D animated and will be featured in a much more direct adaptation of the iconic video game series. From all that has been shown from the trailer, clips, and images, it looks to be inspired by the design the franchise has heavily expanded upon since Super Mario 64. Here are all the posters that have been released so far as well as the reimagining of the Super Mario Brothers Super Show Theme Song.

The First Poster and the New Poster

The first poster creates a sense of wonder as it captures Mario’s awe of the Mushroom Kingdom. The newer poster feels very on-brand for an action movie. The main characters are featured, and the villains, as well as the different and contrasting sides. Both are awesome in their own way.

The first set of character posters gives us an up close and personal look of the major characters of the film, and a glimpse of the world behind them.

The New Batch of Character Posters

The most recent set of character posters seems to still give us a good look at the main characters showing off a bit more of their personality with the full-body capturing. However, we also get a pretty good look at the world and the locations behind them. Princess Peach has the hardest poster by default because it features Rainbow Road behind her. Followed closely by Bowser’s who has a rookery fleeing from him. It is still not as sad as being dropped into an infinite void that numerous players have done on Cool, Cool Mountain for no good reason… as hilarious as it may be.

Words cannot express the flood of nostalgia that engulfed my body when this was tweeted at me. My cousin would give me a quarter every time I recited the rap-based intro to the Super Mario Brothers Super Show. The fact that the team behind the film went through all the effort to recreate it with assets creates an unbelievable amount of trust, belief, and excitement for the film. All of the promotion for The Super Mario Bros. Movie has been nothing short of exciting. I am willing to bet money that this will be regarded as one of the greatest video game movies ever made, both by critics and audiences.

In addition to the re-imagination of the Super Mario Brothers Super Show has been used to promote the new plumbing business Mario and Luigi have started in the Brooklyn Area of New York, New York. It features the URL for a working site and a function number that responds to calls and text. More on that later.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie releases in theaters on April 7, 2023, in the USA and April 28, 2023, in Japan.

Professional Nerd | Amateur Human | Creative/Content Director The best way to describe Kevin Fenix is the kid you never tell what the buttons do in video games so you have a chance to win. Being 6’ 4” and Asian, he never really fit in, so he got comfortable standing out. Not only is it easy to find him in crowds, he dabbles in the culinary arts, does a little stand up and improv, and can honestly say Spider-Man is the Jesus-like influence of his life. Kevin Fenix loves dogs, movies, television, comics, comedy, and to shoot people… with video.
