New Ant-Man 3 Rumor About Hank Pym Revealed And Fans Are Losing Their Minds

Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania had one crazy idea for Hank Pym according to podcast co-host Alex Perez,
Michael Douglas as Hank Pym in Ant-Man 3

This article contains spoilers for Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania and potentially The Kang Dynasty as well as Secret Wars.

Everybody knows that some of the ideas and material you plan during a film’s production won’t make it into the final product for one reason or another, and if a rumor speculated by the Cosmic Circle podcast is to be believed, Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania had one such idea according to podcast co-host Alex Perez,

“In the scene when.. the ants are like attacking the citadel… and all a sudden you see Hank walking down….. In the original… Hank was in his Ant-Man suit… and we were gonna see the original Ant-Man there on the fullest of screens..”

– Alex Perez

One of the cool things about the Ant-Man films for fans has been seeing original Ant-Man Hank Pym mentor his chosen protégé Scott Lang to take up the mantle.  Given that Hank Pym’s actor, Michael Douglas, is older in age, it’s understandable why the only major action we saw the character engage in was done in flashbacks where he was already shrunk down in his suit.

What Does The Future Have In Store For The Ant-Man Family?

However, if this rumor is true, at some point in the development of Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania, we would have finally seen Michael Douglas himself suit up in his original Ant-Man suit and fight alongside Scott Lang, Janet, Hope Van Dyne, and a newly-suited up Cassie Lang in the first fight against Kang the Conqueror.

Of course, Perez also teased that Langs would have an important role to play in the upcoming stories involving Kang the Conqueror and that someone might not make it out alive:

“In terms of how the Multiverse Saga is going to play out, one of the key figures, that is going to have a storyline that is going to be important in Kang Dynasty, is the Langs and the Pym Van Dynes. Specifically, Janet Van Dyne.

Because I can assure you that every single version of Kang is particularly pissed with Scott, they’re particularly pissed with all of these people, but most of all the person that they’re going to be pissed off the most is at Janet Van Dyne… And I’m going to spoil it right here, screw it, I’ll spoil it right here. I have no idea if it’s going to play out yet as it is extremely early but I would not be surprised if Janet Van Dyne is killed in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.”

Of course, this is only speculation as of this writing, but if what Perez states here is true, that would be a huge status quo shift for the entire Ant-Man family.  In 2015’s Ant-Man, while she doesn’t appear outside of a non-speaking cameo, Janet Van Dyne’s disappearance into the Quantum Realm is what motivates Hank Pym to choose ex-con Scott Lang to don the new suit to the dismay of his highly-trained daughter Hope Van Dyne, which has caused an estrangement between them.  2018’s Ant-Man & The Wasp is all about our heroes bringing Janet back from the Quantum Realm, and Quantumania is the first time we’ve spent any substantial time with the character.

With Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania being the start of the MCU’s Phase 5, it’s safe to assume that the rivalry established here between the villainous Kang and the Langs will be a major element, with the family more than likely being instrumental to the Avengers: Secret Wars and Avengers: The Kang Dynasty coming up in a few years.  Leading up to Quantumania, many believed Scott Lang might not make it out alive from this battle, but that turned out not to be the case.

If Janet Van Dyne does indeed die at some point in the future, hopefully, the films leading up to it can give us more time with her and the Langs to make that death all the more of an emotional gut-punch.  We at the Illuminerdi will keep you updated on any and all Ant-Man news as well as the MCU in general.
