Austin Theory Says Don’t Count Cody Rhodes Out At WrestleMania

WWE Cody Rhodes

Austin Theory thinks Cody Rhodes has a very good shot at beating Roman Reigns at WrestleMania. The most anticipated match of WrestleMania is without question the Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns match.  Rhodes had a crazy year in 2022.  He left AEW for WWE and had a huge WrestleMania match with Seth Rollins.

Only a few months later he tore his pectoral muscle and was forced to undergo surgery and miss the rest of the year.  However, at this year’s Royal Rumble, he made his big return in the boldest of fashions by winning the Royal Rumble match.

Winning the Royal Rumble match grants Rhodes a shot at any men’s championship in WWE.  Since Reigns has the top two championships he is the one Rhodes has called out.  The general belief is that Rhodes will beat Reigns at WrestleMania and win his gold, but beating Reigns is no easy task.

During a recent interview with SportsKeeda, United States Champion Austin Theory revealed thinks Rhodes is on too much of a roll not to win. He stated the following:

‘”It’s so easy to say Roman Reigns, right? Because of this immortality of a championship reign, but Cody, man, Cody gets that insane energy from the crowd, and his passion and his work ethic and the words that come out of his mouth when he’s out there speaking to the WWE Universe, you can feel it. And just the stuff that’s been going on lately, like with Paul Heyman, their segments together. Cody might take it, man. He might take it.”

BETTING ODDS FAVOR THE AMERICAN NIGHTMARE CODY RHODES

According to BetOnline, Theory isn’t the only one who thinks Cody Rhodes will come out on top.  At this point, the betting odds favor Rhodes at -500 and Reigns is the betting underdog at +300.  Betting odds are far from concrete in any sport because upsets happen all the time.  This is pro wrestling so anything goes, but Reigns has some doubters out there, and he hasn’t had any of those in a while.

Rhodes is certainly at the peak of his career and there is no denying that this is the best version of Cody Rhodes.  He is perfect at everything he is doing right now and it is hard not to get on the American Nightmare bandwagon.  However, Reigns has been the champion for a long time and has beaten some of the best wrestlers in WWE today.  Reigns is also at his peak.  Their match will see two men at the peaks of their careers going head-to-head.  It is hard to imagine it not being the best match of the whole weekend.

Even though Reigns is the most dominant WWE champion of the modern era, Theory still thinks Rhodes may be his greatest test. He added in his chat with Sportskeeda:

“It’s the easy way to say Roman Reigns but, man, this is a big test for Roman, and I know Roman knows that. He might have four dudes behind him or three dudes behind him, whatever it is now, a hundred dudes, however many people are in The Bloodline, but I really think he’s a little worried about this one. Cody’s riding that wave, man.”

Cody Rhodes isn’t the biggest or baddest guy in WWE, but he has the experience and is a new man. Reigns has wrestled Rhodes before, but not this version. He picked up some new tricks and improved greatly since his time away from WWE. It just may be just enough skills and tricks to beat Reigns.

Do you think Cody Rhodes will win at WrestleMania?  If not, do you think he will win it at Backlash if he gets another shot?  If Rhodes isn’t able to dethrone Reigns who do you think will?  Will it be Zayn?   Let us know who should be Rhodes’ first title defense and why the correct answer is Zayn.
