THE WALKING DEAD: DESTINIES PUTS PLAYERS INTO THE ROLE OF RICK GRIMES FROM THE SMASH-HIT AMC SHOW

In the new game, players will begin their journey as Rick Grimes, alone in a hospital surrounded by the undead. Players will be able to assemble allies and fight their way through a walker apocalypse across locations lifted straight from the show, including Atlanta, the Green family farm, the prison, and Woodbury.

Players will be able to shape the destiny of their team of characters based on the series. Between heroes and villains and the walkers, it’s up to the players to decide if they wish to stay the course of history or choose their own path through the world of the series.

The upcoming title is being developed by Flux Games, who previously developed titles such as Cobra Kai: The Karate Kid Saga Continues. GameMill Entertainment is publishing the title.

While the upcoming third-person action-adventure game is based on the first four seasons of the hit show, players will be able to weave their own path through the events of the series. So, it looks like players can choose different outcomes from the series, meaning they will be able to save the villain, kill the hero, and then have to live with the consequences.

Based on the trailer, it looks like one of those alternate outcomes involves the fate of Shane. Also, it looks like Rick Grimes might become a Walker himself. The game will also include a variety of melee and ranged combat, including bats, katanas, revolvers, shotguns, and crossbows. There also looks to be a team-building element to the series, and players can assemble a team of characters inspired by the hit show, including Rick, Shane, Michonne, Carol, Daryl, and more.

As players will be dealing with a zombie apocalypse, the game will call for resource management, with players having to manage their limited resources and scavenge for weapons, ammo, and to maximize the survival rate for their team. Players will also have to defend their camp, rescue survivors, and fight using stealth or all-out combat. There will also be a broken state players have to fight through before the zombie threat overwhelms them.

The upcoming game will be priced at $49.99. The pre-order will kick off ahead of the debut of the new series in The Walking Dead franchise universe, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, which debuts on Sunday, September 15. Also another spinoff, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, featuring the continuing story of Rick Grimes and Michonne, is due out later in 2024.
