With the first part of Zack Snyder’s space opera film Rebel Moon underway, there’s been lots of talks about the film and the anticipation for it is getting higher per second. Being that this Star Wars-inspired film is being directed by Snyder, the director of Netflix’s Amy of the Dead and DCEU’s Zack Snyder’s Justice League, is the more reason for the incessant chattering about it.
As if the ongoing buzz about it is not enough, on Thursday, August 17, Zack Snyder announced on Twitter that the first trailer will make its global debut on Tuesday, August 22. Snyder’s post was accompanied by a picture of himself sitting with someone else as they looked at what can be presumed to be a shot from the upcoming trailer.
A few days after Zack Snyder’s announcement, Netflix, and the official Rebel Moon Twitter account confirmed in their August 21 post that the trailer will be released on Tuesday, August 22. Their posts were accompanied by a 15-second teaser of what the trailer will hold.
Great care was taken not to reveal much in the 15-second sneak peek but it still showed the main character Kora (played by Sofia Boutella). The sci-fi epic follows Kora as she embarks on a journey to save her adopted homeworld Veldt from tyrannical Regent Balisarius (played by Fra Free), by going to different parts of the Galaxy to recruit warriors who would help save and protect Veldt.

“Tasked with finding trained fighters who will unite with her in making an impossible stand against the Mother World, Kora assembles a small band of warriors — outsiders, insurgents, peasants and orphans of war from different worlds who share a common need for redemption and revenge. As the shadow of an entire Realm bears down on the unlikeliest of moons, a battle over the fate of a galaxy is waged, and in the process, a new army of heroes is formed.”

Rebel Moon will be a two-part film which will be shot back to back with the first part scheduled to drop on December 22, 2023. Snyder also revealed that extended cuts are already in the works for the R-rated flick. More details are set to come for the second installment and the overall direction of the franchise soon.
