Power Rangers Cosmic Fury finally connects a dot to the timeline. Fans now have a picture of how Power Rangers SPD's story fits into the continuity.

Power Rangers Cosmic Fury reveals the timeline of events that led to the start of Power Rangers SPD. The Space Patrol Delta team of 2025 was a big concern among the fandom as Power Rangers didn’t seem to link the continuity. However, fans finally got the relief they had been waiting for as the 30th Season finally connected the timeline, thanks to the writers. This means that the big worry for the Power Rangers universe is finally addressed, just before the reboot starts a whole new storyline.

Power Rangers Cosmic Fury is the 30th Season of Power Rangers, which takes part in the 30th anniversary celebration. The 3rd Season of Power Rangers Dino Fury featured the cast returning for a space mini-series, featuring David Yost, Kelson Henderson, and even Ryan Carter.

Power Rangers SPD was the 12th Season of the franchise but took place in the year 2025. Although at the time it was years in the future, the series featured Earth inhabited by extraterrestrials as part of society. Fans began to share their concern regarding the storyline since many seasons had yet to address this occurrence.

Power Rangers Cosmic Fury Leads into SPD

The link was officially established in a conversation between Amelia and Billy, as the Rangers discuss the invasion around the galaxy. David Yost delivered the line in Episode 9 of the 30th Season, revealing the origins of Newtech City. The location featured in Power Rangers SPD was stated by the Blue Ranger to be where refugees have been taken due to homes lost in the battles against Lord Zedd’s forces. This suggests that the integration of alien civilizations happened due to Lord Zedd’s return.

This also suggests that the Earth branch of SPD must have been set up as the city became a haven for extraterrestrials that have integrated into society. This would also suggest that Sky, Bridge, and Syd may be humans from another planet. This has been seen before such as Andros and Zhane from KO-35, which revealed there are humans on other planets other than Earth.

This may also mean that Z and Jack could have been refugees who managed to get to Earth, especially since their parents were secretly a part of SPD. It will be an interesting adventure to watch Power Rangers SPD after the 30th Season and see how well it flows.

Comics to Fix Two more Timeline Issues

The only thing left is the story started by Melissa Flores as the Boom! Studios comics continue to threaten the timeline. The Darkest Hour is one of the biggest threats to the Morphin Grid as Dark Spector spreads an infection in the Grid, causing Rangers to turn dark. This isn’t the only outstanding threat to the continuity as the Hyperforce Rangers also affected the timeline when the Alliance of Evil stole Zordon at a key moment in time. The Hyperforce Rangers have also been included in the event but have yet to debut in the latest issues released.

This year-long event could make a huge difference to the timeline, which is why fans are on the edge of their seats. With Empress Rita infecting another team of Rangers in another universe, it will be interesting to see what Flores will reveal about the past, present, and future. Another release also takes a fresh new perspective as Ranger Academy releases this October. It will be exciting to find out how this new story may introduce new lore and even changes that could alter the perspective of the Morphin Grid.

Long time fan of Tokusatsu fan since Power Rangers was first released in the 90s. Whereas most Superhero fans grew up with DC Comics and Marvel, my childhood was surrounded by releases from Saban Entertainment such as Beetleborgs, along with anime, and other various fads of the generation. Anime is also a great passion with Digimon, That Time I Was Reincarnated As A Slime, and Demon Slayer being significant favorites. It was the love of both Power Rangers and Digimon that led to the path of becoming a Senior Writer for The Illuminerdi.
