LEGO and Nintendo have announced a fairly amazing crossover that’s in the works. It appears there’s a LEGO Animal Crossing collaboration that’s happening, though details are still scarce. Nintendo confirmed the news on Thursday (Oct. 5) with a short reveal video, which you can check out below:

NINTENDO REVEALS LEGO ANIMAL CROSSING COLLABORATION

The short video shows the various critters of Animal Crossing, including Isabelle and Tom Nook, in the style of new LEGO Minifigures. They all seem to be gathering to watch a balloon lifting a box into the sky, which is then followed by the LEGO and Animal Crossing logos.

The announcement was vague on the collaboration. However, a report by IGN has some additional details on what’s in the works for the LEGO-themed Animal Crossing products. It’s rumored that there will be Animal Crossing LEGO toy sets that will be released later in March 2024. However, that date is not yet official and was not part of the announcement video.

It’s also rumored by VGC that there will be five LEGO sets for Animal Crossing ranging in price from $14.99 to $74.99. Additionally, there have been no details on the names or contents of the sets, but there are details on their set numbers. Set 77046 will reportedly have 170 pieces and will be available for $14.99. Meanwhile, set 77047 will have 164 pieces and is priced at $19.99. Set 77048 will have 233 pieces for the price of $29.99. Set 77049 will have 389 pieces at the price of $39.99. Finally, set 77050 will have 535 pieces at the price of $74.99.

So it appears the new collaboration is going to be mainly LEGO builder sets and minifigures and not necessarily any type of game content. But who knows? Maybe that will be another aspect of this collaboration revealed later on.

Interestingly enough, there was a LEGO Animal Crossing: New Horizons playset that was pitched several years ago on LEGO Ideas. The product idea received 10,000 supporters. However, it was not approved by LEGO (See above for the concept). The good news is that Nintendo and LEGO have now come through with this new LEGO and Animal Crossing collaboration. So it looks like fans of both LEGO and the game will now have the chance to create their own Animal Crossing LEGO sets, complete with minifigures of their favorite characters.

LEGO and Nintendo have collaborated beforehand on various sets. First, there is the LEGO Nintendo Entertainment System, which creates a LEGO brick version of the classic NES console. LEGO has also created various toys and sets for the Super Mario Bros. game series.

Regardless, it’s great to see a new collaboration between Nintendo and LEGO. Hopefully, the LEGO Animal Crossing collaboration is a sign of things to come for future collaborations between the two brands, and more LEGO and Nintendo collaborations can happen in the future for franchises such as Metroid, Star Fox, Kirby, and more.

The new LEGO sets don’t have a release date as of yet. However, Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now on Nintendo Switch.
