New information has surfaced on casting and the release period for Marvel's Daredevil: Born Again.
Daredevil Born Again

New details have surfaced on when the new Daredevil: Born Again series might finally arrive on Disney+. When Marvel Studios announced their wave of upcoming projects at San Diego Comic-Con 2022, the excitement to see our favorite characters back on the big (and small) screen was endless.

Over the course of a year, it all changed, especially when the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes began. Eventually, studios began to push back many of their projects, including the popular Disney+ series from Marvel Studios. Just like many of the MCU projects that were originally expected to be released in 2024, Daredevil: Born Again looks like it will most likely hit the platform streaming service in 2025.

NEW CASTING FOR URICH AND BULLET

One of the beloved characters from the Netflix series was Ben Urich played by Vondie Curtis-Hall. The character was ultimately killed by Wilson Fisk in the first season and we haven’t heard much about those related to him, besides his wife, who only appeared in the first season. According to Can We Get Some Toast on X, the character will be named B.B. Urich and it will be portrayed by Genneya Walton. She is purportedly the niece of her uncle Ben Urich from the Netflix Daredevil series.

Ben Urich had multiple relatives in the Marvel comic storylines. One such nephew was Philip Urich, who at one point took on the role of Green Goblin. How B.B. Urich will pertain to the story in Born Again remains to be seen. However, she did not appear to be in attendance at her uncle’s funeral in the first season, which was attended by various characters from the show and Ben Urich’s widow, Doris (Portrayed by Adriane Lenox).

When it comes to Buck Cashman aka the Bullet, it has been revealed that the character will be played by Arty Froushman. In the comics, the character was an agent of the United States government who was able to perform covert activities and had the highest level of security clearance an agent of his status could hold. He has the agility, reflexes, and overall general fitness of a highly conditioned athlete. Eventually, he fell under The Kingpin’s influence and ended up fighting against Daredevil.

A POSSIBLE JANUARY 2025 RELEASE DATE

According to industry insider The Cosmic Circus, they found that Daredevil: Born Again is set to release in January 2025. The reports were first spotted by the Marvel fan account Scarlet Witch Updates on X which showed a trio of Disney+ series that will be released between 2024 and 2025.

WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN

The former Netflix series Daredevil was an instant hit among television and comic book fans. The series had a 92% average tomatometer and it ran for 3 seasons until Disney decided to pull back the rights of film and television projects that were licensed to Netflix. Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) made his first appearance as the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen on the Disney+ series She-Hulk.

Even though the series wasn’t a fan favorite for many, it was exciting to see Cox return as Daredevil. Daredevil: Born Again was first announced at the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con. It was there that it was revealed that the series will have 18 episodes for its first season.

This was exciting news as most Disney+ Marvel series had an average of 6 to 8 episodes. Fans were excited about this news and at the time, the series was set for a 2024 release though much has changed since 2022. When it comes to the synopsis/plot of the series, not much has been revealed yet.

Obviously, a trailer has also not been shown either but what we do know is that Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio will return as their respected characters as Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Wilson Fisk/Kingpin. D’Onofrio returned as Kingpin in the Disney+ series Hawkeye back in 2021. Just like Cox, this was the first time we saw the character return after the cancellation of the Netflix series.

When it comes to the other actors such as Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Elodie Yung, and Rosario Dawson, there has been no official word of their respective returns. However, according to Dawson, she has spoken fondly and has stated that she would love to return as Claire Temple. Jon Bernthal is also set to reprise his role as Frank Castle in Daredevil: Born Again.

The series is named after the iconic 1986 comic book arc that was written by Frank Miller and drawn by David Mazzucchelli. In the comics, Matt Murdock’s superhero identity is outed by Karen Page. This results in Kingpin making moves to destroy Matt on every level. He targets his relationships, his career, and his very will to live.

Certain events of the storyline were adapted in the third season of the hit Netflix season. There isn’t any official information about how the new series series will follow the comics. That said if it’s anywhere near as good as the previous show, Daredevil: Born Again would be very dark in contrast to the other Disney+ series.

What do you think about the updates on Daredevil: Born Again? Are you excited for the return of the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen? What do you think about the series being pushed back to 2025?
