An Unexpected Ally in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #114

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #114 teases the next installment of Darkest Hour. The upcoming issue from Boom! Studios gives fans a sneak preview with a wondrous selection of cover art available.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #114 brings together Rangers and an unexpected Ally as the Darkest Hour continues. The latest issue from Boom! Studios has been revealed with a range of assorted covers and even a sneak peek into the first few pages. The year-long event for the 30th anniversary of Power Rangers is in full swing as the original Blue Ranger encounters the Drakkon Rangers in his dimension. The preview of the upcoming issue also reveals interactions between different characters as eras and dimensions collide.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers dives deeper into the Darkest Hour event as the story continues to follow the Rangers and their fight against Empress Rita. In the style of Shattered Grid, the timeline opens up with appearances from different Rangers throughout the multiverse. The comic features the Mighty Morphin Season 2 team, and they fight alongside the Drakkon Rangers, but the Hyperforce Rangers and other various characters begin to make their appearance. With Death Ranger and a corrupted Morphin Grid turning friends into foes, greater challenges have debuted with every issue released since July 2023.

As the Hour grows Darkest, the only hope for curing the grid… and saving the Power Rangers from extinction… is connecting to the very heart of the Morphin Grid!! But even though the Power Rangers are joined by the HyperForce Rangers and another unexpected ally, Dark Specter turns his attention to Tommy after doing the unthinkable to the White Ranger’s friends…

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #114 features main cover art by star artist Taurin Clarke (Miles Morales: Spider-Man) and variant covers by acclaimed illustrators Björn Barends (Spawn), Goñi Montes (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers), Erica D’Urso (Captain Marvel) with Igor Monti, and Veronica Fish (Archie).

Celebrating 30 continuous years on the air, Power Rangers has become one of the longest-running kids’ live-action series in television history, with more than 900 episodes aired to date. Created by Haim Saban and launched in 1993 with Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, the series celebrates its 30th year with Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always, an anniversary special streaming exclusively on Netflix. The 30th overall season of Power Rangers, “Power Rangers: Cosmic Fury,” is currently available exclusively on Netflix.

Seeing Rocky and Adam mingle with other captured Rangers from across time and space was joyous to see, even as a sneak preview. It’s incredible to see an event allowing a collection of Rangers to interact again as seen during Shattered Grid. The new story has every fan at the edge of their seats attempting to predict how things will resolve. It is an exciting time as even Death Ranger has been raising the threat level, making it hard to predict how their defeat could be possible.

As more events unfold, it will be exciting to collect the amazing art featured on the variants, with the Hyperforce Rangers now appearing in the latest art. It’s great to see a different selection of Rangers are now in the spotlight, such as the Wild Force Black Ranger. Since the Hyperforce Ranger was last seen with Wild Force Yellow and Dino Charge Purple, there are likely more surprising interactions between various series still to come. It will be thrilling to find out how the teams featured will gather and who else might enter the fight.

Long time fan of Tokusatsu fan since Power Rangers was first released in the 90s. Whereas most Superhero fans grew up with DC Comics and Marvel, my childhood was surrounded by releases from Saban Entertainment such as Beetleborgs, along with anime, and other various fads of the generation. Anime is also a great passion with Digimon, That Time I Was Reincarnated As A Slime, and Demon Slayer being significant favorites. It was the love of both Power Rangers and Digimon that led to the path of becoming a Senior Writer for The Illuminerdi.
