It looks like we are another step closer to the Oasis from Ready Player One becoming a reality. The newly created publisher Readyverse Studios is collaborating with developer Walker Labs to create a new Ready Player One-inspired metaverse game experience titled OPEN, which was just announced today at SXSW.
The AAA battle royale experience developed by Walker Labs was created in close collaboration with Ernest Cline, author of the bestselling novel Ready Player One. The project will turn multiple globally recognized IPs into a multi-mode battle royal experience on PC and current-gen consoles. Basically, it sounds very much like the world of the Oasis from the Ready Player One film and book!

Per Readyverse, OPEN will be the first AAA quality metaverse experience that will be interoperable with AAA IP and leverages web3 technology. It will be a third-person battle royale experience and is being touted as the hero experience for The Readyverse. ENTER THE IMMERSIVE MULTIVERSE OF OPEN
The new trailer Ready Player One and the hot in-movie virtual reality title of the game, Oasis. It looks like the Oasis game avatar of Wade Watts, aka Parzival, from Ready Player One exploring Aech’s garage. There’s even the Back to the Future DeLorean Time Machine that Wade used in the story.
According to Readyverse, the game’s immersive multiverse will be filled with nostalgia-infused biomes with characters and cultural legends from iconic franchises. Players will embark on game-show styles, multi-round collaborative, and competitive game modes. However, only one hero can emerge victorious. The game will utilize an array of gaming disciplines, including tactical positioning, sly movement, strategic shooting, and driving skills. Players will be able to team up with allies, plan for strategic adventures, and engage in intense gameplay sessions.
Reebok and DeLorean will be among the globally recognized IPs featured in the game. OPEN will also feature a Ready Player One biome where fans can engage in competitive experiences inspired by the novel and the film. This will include branded environments and skins.

OPEN is part of Readyverse Studios’ recently announced partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery to bring the Ready Player One experience to the metaverse. Readyverse Studios was co-founded by Futureverse Co-Founders Shara Senderoff and Aaron McDonald, along with Ready Player One novelist Ernest Cline, and Dan Farah, the producer of the film adaptation.
