To the MCU, Kevin Feige’s X-Men! The reboot Marvel fans have patiently been waiting for is slowly approaching the big screen.
According to a new report by Production Weekly, Marvel Studios’ untitled X-Men reboot will commence production in late 2025.
In 2019 Disney bought Fox for 71.3 billion dollars subsequently bringing the film rights to X-Men, Deadpool, and Fantastic Four home to Marvel Studios where they belong to join Spider-Man, and what’s left of Avengers, among other heroes in the MCU.
Mutants Are Already Here!
Since then we’ve been getting bits and pieces like Evan Peters’ supposed reprisal as Quicksilver in Wandavision, Patrick Stewart’s Professor X in Multiverse of Madness, the revelation of Ms. Marvel being a mutant, Namor’s arrival in Wakanda Forever, and Kelsey Grammar’s Beast in the post-credits scene for The Marvels.

The MCU’s First X-Men Movie Already In Development
Though X-Men’97 is truly excellent, it’s not an MCU movie but we are closer than ever to seeing Xavier’s team headline their own MCU feature. In the fall of last year, Marvel Studios began searching for a scribe for their first X-Men film. That position is expected to be filled imminently if not by now.

Production Weekly may be wrong at times but the timing checks out. Once there’s a writer and director attached this year, production should begin at some point in 2025. If all runs smoothly the movie could be out by 2027. It would be funny if the film is titled “X-Men 2027” if that’s the case. Then again, the film is expected to be released after Avengers: Secret Wars so it would be wise to tame expectations.
Justice For Our Uncanny Heroes
X-Men first appeared in 1961, in comics created by the late Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. They’re an expansive and revolving team of mutant superheroes sworn to protect a world that hates and fears them, fighting the injustices of oppression and heinous acts committed by humans and mutants alike. X-Men revolutionized the superhero genre across various forms of media, especially in film and television, though the results of the live-action films have varied since The Last Stand.
When the MCU debuts their X-Men franchise I hope to see it handled with the respect and dignity it deserves.
