DEXTER ORIGINAL SIN ASSEMBLES CAST INCLUDING CHRISTIAN SLATER
The upcoming series will star Patrick Gibson of Shadow and Bone fame as the titular Dexter Morgan. Golden Globe winner Christian Slater (Mr. Robot) will portray Harry Morgan, Dexter’s adoptive father and homicide detective. And Molly Brown has been cast as Dexter’s younger sister, Debra Morgan. Clyde Phillips (Dexter, Nurse Jackie) returns as showrunner and executive producer.
Dexter Original Sin is set 15 years before the start of the original series. The 10-episode thriller will chronicle the life of America’s favorite serial killer… in training. The show will start in Miami in 1991, as Dexter Morgan transitions from student to avenging serial killer. When his bloodthirsty urges can’t be ignored any longer, Dexter must now learn to channel his inner darkness.
With the guidance of his father, Harry (Slater), he adopts a Code designed to help him find and kill people who deserve to be eliminated from society without getting on law enforcement’s radar. This will be a challenge to Dexter as he starts a forensics internship at the Miami Metro Police Department.
Slater is coming off his award-winning role in TV’s Mr. Robot, which earned him both a Golden Globe Award and Critics Choice Award. He’s known for his starring roles in the cult classics True Romance and Heathers. He’s currently starring in Unfrosted, the directorial debut of Jeffery Seinfeld, and The Spiderwick Chronicles. He’s also attached to star in the directorial debut of Zoe Kravitz, Blink Twice.
The acclaimed series Dexter first debuted in the fall of 2006 starring Michael C. Hall as Dexter Morgan, a blood-spatter expert with the Miami Metro Police Department who also happens to moonlight as a serial killer. The show earned multiple Emmy and Golden Globe nominations, and a Peabody Award in 2008. The show was twice named as one of AFI’s top 10 television series.
Dexter Original Sin is being produced by Showtime Studios and Counterpart Studios. It’s also being executive produced by Scott Reynolds, Michael C. Hall, Mary Leah Sutton, Tony Hernandez, Lilly Burns, and produced by Robert Lloyd Lewis. Michael Lehmann is serving as directing executive producer.
