The time has nearly arrived and the MCU’s God of Mischief is about to make his television return in Season 2 of Loki. Marvel Studios has finally dropped the official trailer for the upcoming show online, and it’s been announced for an October 2023 release date. You can check out the newly revealed trailer below:
LOKI RETURNS FOR MORE MISCHIEF IN THE OFFICIAL SEASON 2 TRAILER
It looks like Season 2 picks up where the first season left off. It looks like Loki (Tom Hiddleston) was left stranded in another alternate timeline of the Time Variance Authority (TVA), meeting an alternate version of Agent Mobius (Owen Wilson) than the one he had befriended in the first season. It looks like Loki now wants to help the TVA in dealing with the variants of He Who Remains, a variant for Kang the Conqueror, portrayed by Jonathan Majors in the first season’s finale.

The new season introduces Oscar winner Key Huy Quan, who portrays the TVA agent OB, who Loki and Mobius seek for assistance. It also looks like Loki is suffering from some sort of affliction called “Timeslipping” where he appears to be getting pulled back and forth from the past to the present.
It also appears that Loki and Mobius travel to another timeline, encountering another variant of Kang, this one going by the name of Victor Timely. This scene was teased in the post-credit sequence for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Loki seems to believe that a war involving Kang or his variants is coming.
It appears all the central characters from the first season are also back for Season 2. Gugu Mbatha-Raw is also back as Ravonna Renslayer. In the comics and other media, Ravonna is the wife and consort of Kang the Conqueror. It also looks like Wunmi Mosaku is back for Season 2 as Wunmi Mosaku. Even Eugene Cordero, as the TVA’s hapless worker Casey, appears to be back for the new season.
It also looks like the God of Mischief will come back into contact with his female variant, Sophie Laufeydottir, who he fell in love with in the first season. It seems quite appropriate that the character fell in love with a female variant of himself. It looks like Loki and Sophie will be forced to make an impossible choice this season, but as the trailer says, “the timeline is running out.”
It looks like the characters are trying to prevent an inevitable war with Kang and his variants, but it’s not clear if that will be possible. Of course, it also looks like there will be more fun with Miss Minutes (Tara Strong), who also looks to be back in a new form for Season 2. So, it very much looks like the TVA will have their hands full in Season 2.
It will be interesting to see what happens with Majors as Victor Timely in Season 2, and if this will turn out to be the origin of Kang the Conqueror, or at least one variant of Kang. As recently noted, the actor has been the subject of controversy, and he’s been accused of domestic violence. Additionally, Rolling Stone also published a report regarding Majors and an alleged history of abuses and violence by the actor going back nearly a decade.
Marvel Studios and parent company Disney have largely been silent on the allegations regarding Majors. It appears they are letting the story play out in court before any definitive action is taken. For now, Majors will still be appearing as Victor Timely on Season 2 of the show later this fall. However, how this might affect Majors’ future in the MCU as Kang the Conqueror remains to be seen.
