As the coronavirus pandemic continues to ravage nearly all aspects of everyday life, the movie industry is working hard to keep up with the daily changes too. Nearly every major studios have made the appropriate changes to their release schedules for 2020 and beyond, and more news from today has given even more updates for one of the biggest franchises running today.

Upcoming Marvel Release Date Changes

According to multiple reports, both Sony and Disney have made numerous Marvel release date updates to their upcoming film slates. Sony has pushed the untitled Spider-Man 3 to November 5, 2021, the original date for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Marvel has now moved this sequel ahead to March 25, 2022 and bumped Thor: Love and Thunder to a week earlier than originally planned on February 11, 2022.

Ever since the coronavirus crisis pushed the delays for the MCU to further in 2020, the schedule has seemed to change nearly daily. The order of all the Marvel release date scheduling has been shuffled multiple times, but it seems that they will still be releasing in something very close to the order they were originally intended. This also shifts the number of films in the MCU releasing by year to one in 2020, three in 2021, and a whopping five in 2022.

2020 will bring the premiere of Black Widow on November 6 after the delays pushed the movie off of its original May 1 release date. 2021 will have the releases of The Eternals on February 12, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings on May 7, and Spider-Man 3 on November 6.

Marvel Release Date Update

2022 will then mark the biggest year in the MCU’s history with five movies in total. Thor: Love and Thunder comes in on February 11, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness on March 25, Black Panther 2 on May 6, Captain Marvel 2 on July 8, and an untitled Marvel movie on October 7. It will be even more exciting once the coronavirus pandemic is over so everything can be set deeper into stone.
