The franchise first began in 2002 from Square Enix and was led by the legendary game director Tetsuya Nomura. The franchise launched a longstanding collaboration between Square Enix and Disney. Since that time, the franchise has shipped over 36 million copies worldwide. Now, Steam users will finally be able to join the adventures of Sora, Donald Duck, Goofy, and many other beloved Disney characters through their grand adventures from the beginning through the third game and the Re Mind DLC.

Square Enix is also working on the next installment of the franchise, Kingdom Hearts IV, which is currently in the works. The project was announced just over two years ago in celebration of the franchise’s 20th anniversary. It was still in early development at the time. The game will be released at a later date, but its release period has not yet been revealed, along with what consoles it will be available on.

It’s great to see that Square Enix is finally bringing the popular game series to Steam and players on the platform will finally be able to access all the previously released content. Hopefully, this means that more announcements on the fourth installment will be coming soon as well.

It will be also interesting to see if the games get remastered releases on the current-generation consoles at some point, or at least when the picture regarding the fourth game becomes clear. The epic series arrives on Steam on June 13, 2024. The games are also available to purchase now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC via Epic Games Store.
