Simon Pegg Shows Genius By Fan-Casting Himself As This Star Wars Character In The Mandalorian

Actor Simon Pegg wants to play a lethal Star Wars character on The Mandalorian and his casting idea makes perfect sense.

In Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, Simon Pegg was under the prosthetics of the irritable Unkar Plutt of Jakku. Fresh off bartering portions for parts from Rey, Pegg now eyes another role in a galaxy far, far away, a role he has actually played before.

The Mandalorian’s second season is set to bring a crop of popular Star Wars characters into its ensemble. Ahsoka Tano, Bo-Katan Kyrze, Boba Fett, Cobb Vanth, and possibly Sabine Wren and Captain Rex are all set to appear.

In a recent interview with Collider, Simon Pegg talks about his desire to join the Mandalorian in the future:

I’ve mentioned it a few times, but surely, if Taika and Favreau decide to bring Dengar into The Mandalorian, then I have some form [of experience] in the past having played him in Star Wars: Battlefront and The Clone Wars. So just saying. I heard they just employed Katee Sackhoff to play a character that wasn’t in the movies but she played it before in a different Star Wars thing, so just saying.

Who is Dengar?

For those not familiar with minor characters in the Star Wars universe, Dengar was a noted Corellian bounty hunter. In fact, he was one of the select few chosen by Darth Vader to hunt down the Millennium Falcon in The Empire Strikes Back. He has grown to have a bigger presence in ancillary materials such as novels, comics, and the Clone Wars T.V. series.

In Clone Wars, Dengar was part of a bounty hunter crew that mentored a young, orphaned Boba Fett. In the Star Wars: Aftermath trilogy, taking place around the time of The Mandalorian, Dengar was part of a crew with the Zabrak bounty hunter Jas Emari. They fought alongside the New Republic at the Battle of Jakku, and as a result of their actions, received payment and full pardons by the New Republic government.

Could Simon Pegg’s Dream Come True?

Din Djarin (The Mandalorian) is a bounty hunter himself and member of the Bounty Hunter’s Guild of Nevarro, so it wouldn’t be illogical for he and Dengar to cross paths. Dengar is still running with Jas Emari and her crew, so perhaps the New Republic is searching for The Child as well.

What do you think? Do you think this is just a pipe dream for Simon Pegg? Is Dengar someone you would want to see in The Mandalorian or future Star Wars Disney + programming? Let us know in the comments below!
