Set to premiere January 6^th, 2021, the trailer shows us clips and interviews of people pondering what happens after we die and a select few who have supposedly died and come back to life. It’s based on the book of the same name by New York Times Best-Selling author Leslie Kean and will be 6 episodes.

Ricki Stearn will direct the 6-episode series as it attempts to answer one of humanity’s most pressing questions: What Really Happens After We Die? Take a look at the new trailer for Surviving Death below.

While it’s far from the first series to dabble in the question of life after death (see the multitude of paranormal investigation shows from the early 2000s), Surviving Death could offer intriguing pre-meeting Skype discussions around its central question. Or it could simply be a dramatized farce that’s at least entertaining. I’m interested to see how the show plays out and hope it ends up on the positive end, but we won’t know until it releases.

Over six episodes, Surviving Death explores questions that have been contemplated throughout time: What does it mean to die, and is death the end of our existence? Weaving together innovative new research with firsthand accounts from those who’ve been close to — and even experienced — death, the series takes viewers on an extraordinary journey into a world beyond human existence as we know it.
