The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke has gleefully confirmed that season 3 of the Amazon Prime series will include the famously NSFW “Herogasm” storyline.
The Boys premiered on Amazon Prime in 2019 and quickly became known as the goriest, most blood-soaked superhero series to watch, much to the fans delight. Based on the comic of the same name co-created by Garth Ennis, the writer of the series, and Darick Robertson, the artist. The Boys comics were initially published by Wildstorm, a publishing imprint of DC Comics, in 2006 before being cancelled after the sixth issue. The Boys was picked up by Dynamite Entertainment in 2007. “Herogasm” was the first spin-off mini-series.
The Boys breaks the standard of superhero stories showing a world in which the super powered people are treated as celebrities and owned by corporations who use them for marketing and monetization purposes. Behind their heroic public personas, the supes are notoriously horrible people with most being arrogant, cruel, corrupted by their money and fame. The Boys follows a group of vigilantes who are trying to expose the main group of supes, The Seven, Vought International’s primary superhero team.
ERIC KRIPKE ECSTATIC TO FINALLY COVER “HEROGASM” ON THE BOYS
“Herogasm” follows The Boys as they sneak into Vought’s secret and exclusive island resort of superhero debauchery and depravity filled with sex and drugs for the supes. This yearly event is covered up by a story to the public that the “Supes” are working together to handle a worldwide crisis. Eric Kripke excitedly showed off the cover of the season three, episode six script titled, “Herogasm”.
This is not the first time Kripke has told fans that they would see the infamous story in the upcoming season, but for hardcore fans of The Boys this was definitive proof the show will be tackling this NSFW mini-series. Kripke posted “From day one, everyone dared me to make this episode. CHALLENGE MET MOTHERFUCKERS.”
Jessica Chou, the writer of this episode added “Was an honor to write this ep and work with @therealKripke and the other amazing #TheBoys writers.” It’s clear that Kripke is excited to be able to include Herogasm in The Boys series, but there will likely be some changes from the original mini-series.

One part of the “Herogasm” mini-series that will not be included is the sex scene between Homelander and Soldier Boy. With Jensen Ackles joining the cast and the Herogasm storyline being included, Kripke was asked by a fan during a Q&A in October, 2020 and definitively answered, “There isn’t going to be a Soldier Boy, Homelander having sex scene.”
The series is known for making changes to the original comic book series. These changes will inevitably affect the highly anticipated episode in a number of ways. In the mini-series, more about the events surrounding one of the most famous moments in the comics is revealed. In the comics The Seven failed to stop one of the planes that was hijacked on 9/11, but as fans of the Amazon Prime series know this was changed for the show.

In the “Herogasm” mini-series, The Boys learn that the Vice President Victor Neuman temporarily neutralized the president during the 9/11 terrorist attack and stopped NORAD from taking down the plane, instead allowing The Seven to try and stop it. The Seven failed and instead crashed the plane into the Brooklyn Bridge killing hundreds of people.
In The Boys series Victor Neuman was adapted into Victoria Neuman, an outspoken young Congresswoman who led rallies against adding “Supes” to the military. However, the season two finale revealed that she actually sabotaged the effort to keep “Supes” out of the military and is a super powered individual in her own right with the ability to blow up people’s heads. Victoria Neuman is also now overseeing the new Office of Superhuman Affairs. Given these changes the episode will inevitably change the outcome of The Boys’ mission perhaps with them learning the truth about Victoria Neuman instead.

It will be interesting to see how the team behind the highly successful Amazon Prime series tells the “Herogasm” story in episode six. While the show is known for pushing the limits with blood, gore, and profanity, the raunchy sexual debauchery of “Herogasm” is a whole other ball game. How Kripke adapts the story of “Herogasm” is something fans will be eagerly anticipating until the episode premieres.
