Adam Pearce posts a tweet which seems to suggest a return of the King of The Ring tournament.
Baron Corbin won the last King of the Ring tournament way back in 2019. Since then he hasn’t let anyone forget it. Corbin now goes by King Corbin and is very proud of his accomplishment and wears a crown as a visual representation of his success. That crown has become a point of contention recently.

Corbin has been feuding with Shinsuke Nakamura over that very crown. On this week’s SmackDown Corbin will face Nakamura and the winner gets ownership of the crown. The crown is just a crown, but the King of the Ring is a title which can only be taken away one way. This is exactly what Corbin implied on a recent appearance on The Bump.
Corbin Says To Take His Crown Fair And Square
According to Corbin the only true and correct way to take the crown is through a tournament like he did. The way Nakamura is trying to take the crown is cowardly according to Corbin. Xavier Woods has expressed trying to win the crown through a tournament and Corbin respects that. Corbin has acknowledged he would love to face Woods and shatter his dreams, but he respects him for trying to do it the right way. He even suggested that Woods cry to someone to try to get the King of the Ring brought back.
However, to either Corbin’s pleasure or dismay someone heard that statement and has the power to make it happen. WWE Official Adam Pearce heard the call and tweeted out “I know that I have had many conversations with @BaronCorbinWWE on this very topic. Stay tuned.”
This could mean a lot of things, but it does seem to imply a return of the King of the Ring tournament. However, this isn’t confirmed and we don’t have a date so nothing is set in stone but fingers crossed.
King Of The Ring Is My Thing
The King of the Ring tournament is an elimination tournament to determine the best wrestler in the WWE. Sometimes the winner receives a championship opportunity at SummerSlam, but they all get to call themselves the King of the Ring. It is a prestigious title and has been held by the likes of Macho Man, Bret Hart, Stone Cold Steve Austin and Brock Lesnar among others. Almost all the winners had received a major push after winning. It had become an unofficial way of the company letting fans know who they will be pushing very soon, a lot like the winner of the Royal Rumble.

I have always loved the King of the Ring tournament, but it seems like WWE doesn’t love it as much as fans do because they aren’t annual or even every two years. However, I think this will get a lot of buzz going around WWE fans if they do it right.
A Little Fantasy Booking
Here’s my idea for what they should do. Have the RAW side do the tournament and get down to one Superstar and SmackDown does the same and we end up with the best of Raw and the best of SmackDown. However, here’s two things to really spice it up. NXT does the same thing and the final match is a triple threat between Raw, SmackDown and NXT. Also make a women’s King of the Ring as well with the same triple threat. At the very least WWE should make a men’s and women’s King of the Ring. They have a women’s Money in the Bank, Hell in a Cell, TLC so why not King of the Ring?
Do you think King of the Ring will make a return this year? Do you want it to? Who do you think should be the next King of the Ring? Do you think they should have a women’s King of the Ring? Be a Macho King and land a big elbow drop on the keyboard and let us know what you think below or over on our social media.
