Kevin Feige is ready to make Marvel stans’ dreams come true.
Ever since Doctor Strange was released in 2016, fans have anticipated time travel and the multiverse in the MCU. The seeds of a multiverse were planted again in the first two Ant-Man films, as well as Avengers: Endgame, and Spider-Man: Far From Home. And in WandaVision, a tease of Multiverse was briefly explored in the end credits scene.

But the multiverse was finally fully introduced in the season finale of Loki where – spoiler alert – the variant Sylvie killed Kang’s Variant and inadvertently helped create multiple branches in time. Basically Sylvie’s actions created or jump stated alternate dimensions or timelines.
We have now seen one of those alternate timelines in the first episode of the animated series What If…?, where Agent Peggy Carter takes the Super Soldier formula instead of Steve Rodgers and becomes her own version of Captain America. With the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange: In The Multiverse Of Madness films reported to be focusing on alternate timelines, it’s safe to say Kevin Feige is taking Marvel Studios into new territory that fans have not seen before.
Kevin Feige Hints At New Worlds in the MCU
Recently, Marvel Studios Executive Producer Kevin Feige mentioned that he had a “a meeting [that]Â morning with the whole broad Marvel Studios team” to talk about the Marvel Cinematic Multiverse and how it would follow up to future Marvel Studios projects.
Now another Marvel producer and now head of streaming, television, and animation Brad Winderbaum explained that when it came “how [the multiverse] functions,”. Winderbaum explained “We met with the Loki team and Stephen Broussard and Kevin Wright and I would have many conversations about the Multiverse and how it functions and branch timelines, nexus events.”
Winderbaum then mentioned that they also established “the rule book for all the stories” What it means that the future of multiverse stories is set, and is already laid out. Winderbaum then explained “Same with Mary Livanos on WandaVision. And I think we not just establish how these things would be connected, but also the rule book for all the stories that we tell in the Multiverse moving forward. I mean, it’s thrilling, we’re in the middle of it. I’ll tell you that. We are in the middle of it now.”
What is also interesting that producer Kevin Feige himself mentioned Mary Livanos from WandaVision and Kevin Wright from Loki In his discussion about the Multiverse. By Feige’s statement they will essentially act as the go-betweens on several Marvel Studios’ projects relating to the Multiverse, and also possibly relay information between producers just like for several episodes on What If…?
We all know one of Marvel Studios greatest success is consistency between projects and communication between producers. Loki head writer Michael Waldron even explained this by this stating  “producing teams are constantly communicating with those producing teams to make sure that you’re not screwing each other up“.
Based on Kevin Feige’s statements, as well as quotes from the rest of the creators, it seems this will become a continuing trend for Marvel Studios. Let’s just say that the Marvel Cinematic Universe could now become the Marvel Cinematic Multiverse.
