New York Comic Con

New York Comic Con makes its long-awaited return to the Javits Center this October 7 – 10th, but there are a few things you should know before you get your cosplays ready!

Covid-19 and all its variants continue to cause problems all around the world, forcing multiple events cancellations in order to keep the public safe. It’s not all bad news though. Big hitters like the New York Comic Con 2021 are set to return!

New York Comic Con will be returning on October 7th of this year. This is great news for those wanting to attend it last year but couldn’t due to its cancellation. The event won’t let just anyone in though. In order to attend, you will need proof of vaccination, a negative covid-19 test, and a mask. Here is the tweet the NYCC released in regards to the new stipulations.

Here is the text:

“While we had previously reported that NYCC was taking extra precautions to keep attendees healthy, the proof of vaccination announcement should provide an extra layer of relief for those concerned about attending due to the rise in infections due to the Delta variant.”

Reed Pop, who puts on New York Comic Con isn’t messing around and is taking every precaution to keep their guest and attendees safe. In order to enter the Javits Center and attend the convention, anyone 12 or older must provide proof of full vaccination with an FDA or WHO-approved vaccine. On their website, the convention qualifies full vaccination as having waited two weeks after getting your second shot (or first, if you got an approved single-shot vaccine). Attendees 12 and under must show proof of a negative antigen or PCR COVID-19 test. Identification that matches the test or vaccination record must be provided as well, like a state-issued ID or school ID.

For More Information About New York Comic Con

Before you decided to try on making your cosplay for New York Comic Con (or spend a lot of money and/or time making one), We suggest you call and find out more info about it. It might be a bummer if costumes are not allowed, but at least it’s better than not having a convention to go to.

One important thing to mention is that hand-shakes, high-fives, or hugs are allowed. I guess you could fist bump or elbow bump your friends once you get there too. Pro-tip, if you’re like us and want to check out the bargain bins to finish some of your comic runs, then be sure to take your own hand sanitizer with you to the Javits Center and bring extra masks just in case one of yours breaks.
