From the celebrated Academy Award®-nominated director Mamoru Hosoda and Studio Chizu, creators of Mirai, Wolf Children, Summer Wars, and more, comes Belle a fantastical, heartfelt story of growing up in the age of social media. Ahead of its U.S/ theatrical release next week on January 14, 2022, GKIDS has released a teaser trailer to excite the local audience.
Belle (Subbed) Teaser Trailer
This teaser trailer gives us a glimpse of what we will be expecting from Belle and, needless to say, we are in for a spectacle. From the trailer alone we can surmise that we will be transported to a beautifully animated digital world of vivid color and wonder, a harsh contrast to her reality. Things are looking great in this made-up utopia until an unknown figure poses a threat and all hell breaks loose. Towards the end, Belle is frustratingly trying to navigate reality and her life in the digital world.

For more information, here is the official film synopsis from GKIDS:
Suzu is a shy, everyday high school student living in a rural village. For years, she has only been a shadow of herself. But when she enters “U”, a massive virtual world, she escapes into her online persona as Belle, a gorgeous and globally-beloved singer. One day, her concert is interrupted by a monstrous creature chased by vigilantes. As their hunt escalates, Suzu embarks on an emotional and epic quest to uncover the identity of this mysterious “beast” and to discover her true self in a world where you can be anyone.
Fans worldwide, including myself, are ecstatic for this film, which has already garnered international attention at Cannes Film Festival with a 14-minute standing ovation. I look forward to being enchanted in theaters with a movie this aesthetically pleasing! Belle hits theaters starting January 14th, 2022. There are also select IMAX preview screenings beginning on January 12, 2022. Tickets are on sale now.
