A new expansion in the beloved Pokémon Trading Card Game is on the way!
This Trading Card Game is currently the highest-selling trading card game of all time. Besides the franchise producing and creating the iconic video games we have loved and adored for twenty-six years, Pokémon is also highly popular in the collectible card game genre (CCG). TCG is currently the highest-selling trading card game, with more than 34.1 billion cards sold worldwide.

The trading card series was first published in October 1996 by Japanese publisher Media Factory and became so popular that worldwide tournaments and spin-off video games based on the series. The series will also be having a notable new addition in the form of an expansion pack.
Brand New Cards Inspired From Pokémon Legends: Arceus
Pokémon Company International has revealed the next expansion for the Trading Card Game. The new expansion is called Sword & Shield – Astral Radiance.
Inspired by the recent game Arceus, the Sword & Shield – Astral Radiance expansion pack will feature creatures from the Hisui region and will also showcase card art of the characters from the area. Additionally, fans can look forward to introducing the Radiant Pokémon Mechanic for the trading card game. This new feature is a gameplay mechanic featuring Shiny options with unique abilities or powerful attacks.
The Sword & Shield – Astral Radiance expansion pack will highlight the popular VStar Collection. The upcoming expansion pack will also include a special Trainer Gallery subset with thirty cards. This new unique subset will consist of artwork featuring fan-favorite trainers and their furry companions. Noteworthy cards from the Sword & Shield – Astral Radiance expansion pack include:
- Three Radiant Pokémon
- Eight Pokémon VSTAR
- 21 Pokémon V and two Pokémon VMAX
- More than 20 Trainer cards
The Sword & Shield – Astral Radiance expansion pack will release at participating retailers worldwide on May 27th, 2022. Sword & Shield – Astral Radiance will be available in booster packs, Elite Trainer Boxes, and special collections. The expansion pack will also include an Elite Trainer Box, now available for pre-order in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
