The popular romantic comedy anime series Kaguya-sama: Love Is War -Ultra Romantic- will finally debut in the U.S.

Kaguya-sama: Love Is War -Ultra Romantic- is based on the acclaimed manga series created by author Aka Akasaka. The manga series started its serialization in May 2015 by Shueisha’s magazine Miracle Jump. Then in March 2016 manga series was later moved to Weekly Young Jump. Viz Media licenses the manga series in North America.

The success of the Kaguya-sama: Love Is War manga series paved its way into becoming a media franchise. Besides the current anime series, the franchise consists of two spin-off mangas, an original video animation (OVA), two live-action films, and themed merchandise. Kaguya-sama: Love Is War -Ultra Romantic- will be the anime’s third season. Staff and cast members from the previous two seasons will make their return. 

Kaguya-sama: Love Is War -Ultra Romantic Finds Love in The City Of Angels and The Big Apple

The story of Kaguya-sama: Love Is War -Ultra Romantic- revolves around two High School senior students named Miyuki Shirogane and Kagaya Shinomiya. They attend Shuchiin Academy, an elite school, where Miyuki is student council president and Kaguya is vice president. Miyuki is the top student at Shuchiin Academy and is famous around his prefecture. In comparison, Kaguya is the daughter of a wealthy business family.

Both Kaguya and Miyuki have feelings for one another but have difficulties professing their love to each other. Their classmates expect a fast courtship and agree the two would make a great couple. The plot of the series focuses on Kaguya and Miyuki trying to find a way to confess their feelings, but both of their pride make it difficult to acknowledge their love for one another.

Kaguya-sama: Love Is War -Ultra Romantic is set to make its U.S Premiere in Los Angeles and New York City on April 2. The Los Angeles premiere will be at Aratani Theatre, while The New York City premiere will be at Japan Society. Aniplex of America hosts the premiere event. General Admission tickets are $15.00, while Premium is $35.00. Moviegoers who purchase a Premium Ticket will have access to early admission, a limited edition tote bag featuring Kaguya, and a poster. As a fan of romantic comedy projects and anime, I am excited to watchI haven’t read the original manga series or the first two seasons of the anime. But after watching clips of the first two seasons and the trailer for this upcoming third season, I am now excited to watch it. Now I need to watch the first two seasons and maybe read the original manga series to help prepare myself.
