Chris Hemsworth is a familiar star in our galaxy because of his famous portrayal of Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for almost 10 years, and now he’s heading up Extraction.
We last saw Chris fighting aliens in Men in Black: International, which turned out to be a passable reboot, and also saw him do a cameo in Jay and Silent Bob Reboot movie. Now Hemsworth is gearing up to show his action chops, sticking closer to earth this time in a Netflix film called Extraction, which arrives on April 24.
Extraction (previously known as Dhaka) is an action thriller film directed by Sam Hargrave. Chris Hemsworth is co-producing the film along with Joe and Anthony Russo, the directors of Avengers: Endgame. Also involved are Mike LaRocca (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), and Atomic Blonde producers Eric Gitter and Peter Schwerin. Joe Russo is also the screenwriter of Extraction.

A First Look At Extraction
Sam Hargrave is making his debut as a feature-length director with this Netflix original, after starting out as a stunt coordinator at first and has worked with the Russo brothers on all four MCU movies they did. The Russo brothers also shared the first poster for Extraction on Twitter.
Chris Hemsworth is playing a black market mercenary who has to set out on his most dangerous mission yet. As we can see in the intense poster, Chris Hemsworth is front and center ready to do some action on the field. He is all geared up in this shot and has an intense brooding look to him. The background showcases a raging shootout previewing what to expect from the movie.
The principal photography of the film took place in the Indian cities of Ahmedabad and Mumbai, and Phuket in Thailand, and plate shots in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The team-up of Russo’s and Hemsworth definitely rages some interest. Similarly last year the Russo brothers teamed up with Chadwick Boseman for 21 Bridges.
The synopsis of Extraction is as follows:
“Tyler Rake (Hemsworth) is a fearless black market mercenary with nothing left to lose when his skills are solicited to rescue the kidnapped son (Rudhraksh Jaiswal) of an imprisoned international crime lord. But in the murky underworld of weapons dealers and drug traffickers, an already deadly mission approaches the impossible, forever altering the lives of Rake and the boy.”
Extraction has a lot of top-tier actors that includes David Harbour (Stranger Things), Golshifteh Farahani (Paterson), Randeep Hooda (Highway), Derek Luke (13 Reasons Why), Manoj Bajpayee (The Family Man) and Pankaj Tripathi (Gangs of Wasseypur), and newcomer Rudhraksh Jaiswal.
Chris Hemsworth is known for his action roles and the addition of upcoming Black Widow movie star David Harbour is just icing on the cake. This movie is heavily targeted for both American and Indian audiences. As most portions of the movie are shot in India and it also stars few major Indian actors this movie will be viewed hugely in India not to mention the sheer popularity of the God of Thunder Hemsworth’s fandom in India. Extraction releases on Netflix on April 24.
