Top Gun: Maverick took advantage of the 100 million eyes on this year’s Super Bowl to drop a new TV spot highlighting Tom Cruise’s aerial stunts.
More than thirty years after cementing his status as one film’s most iconic pilots, Cruise is ready to take on the role of Maverick once more and fly the skies. Directed by Joseph Kosinski (TRON: Legacy), the long-awaited sequel revolves around the famous test pilot dodging rank advancements in order to keep flying and training new Top Gun graduates.
One such graduate is Lt. Bradley Bradshaw (Miles Teller), whose call sign is “Rooster,” and who turns out to be the son of Maverick’s best friend, “Goose.” Together they embark on a special, secret mission that’s never been seen before. The movie will also include an appearance from the original film’s Iceman (Val Kilmer) and the addition of Jennifer Connelly. Check out the TV spot on Cruise’s twitter, or in the Youtube video below:
Tom Cruise Goes All Out For Top Gun
As you can see, the 30-second trailer focuses heavily on Pete “Maverick” Mitchell’s expert flying, and with good reason. After all, Cruise himself got into the cockpit to deliver some of the most realistic and complex flying shots imaginable. Although he will not be flying any fighter jets, thank you very much, he nevertheless expressed his pride over the “heavy duty” work that the stunts and production team put into the sequel.
