Marvel’s Moon Knight Series New Production Start Reportedly Pushed Until November

According to a new report, Marvel Studios' upcoming superhero thriller Moon Knight for Disney+, has shifted its production date and filming location.

According to a new report, Marvel Studios’ upcoming superhero thriller Moon Knight for Disney+, has shifted its production date and filming location.

TheGWW has uncovered that Disney+ will begin production in mid-November at Pinewood Studios in Atlanta. Fans of Marvel will recognize that Atlanta is a popular production location with numerous projects filming there including Ant-Man, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Captain America: Civil War. In addition. Disney+ shows will also be filming there including Falcon and the Winter Soldier, WandaVision, Loki, and She-Hulk.

The shift in production dates will push the show back a little bit. Moon Knight was initially slated to begin filming at Pinewood Studios in the UK in August. However, they will now film at the U.S. Pinewood Studios, which is located in aforementioned Atlanta, Georgia. This location has become a hub for Marvel Studios’ productions and Disney+ features in general and it seems that the trend will look to continue.

Moon Knight’s Troubled Past and Bright Future

Moon Knight will follow the paranormal hero Moon Knight/Marc Spector. Spector is a man with dissociative identity disorder who believes that he was resurrected and given powers by the Egyptian god Knoshu. The troubled hero has numerous powers including enhanced strength, endurance, and reflexes. His abilities are enhanced based on the different phases of the moon.

Casting is underway and there has been no announcements as of yet. The series will have Jeremy Slater (The Umbrella Academy) as showrunner. Marvel is reportedly looking for a Jewish actor to portray the titular character, as it will be reflective of the characters in-fiction background. This would be Marvel’s first Jewish hero, as well as the only MCU character with a defined mental illness. Moon Knight is another big stride in their efforts to diversify the landscape of the MCU.

Moon Knight doesn’t have a set premiere date, but is expected to hit in December 2021 or Spring 2022, based on the most recent production information. Are you excited for the upcoming series?
