Justice League Dark: Apokolips War Primed To Be The Last DC Animated Universe Movie

According to a recent report, Justice League Dark: Apokolips War is going to be the final movie in the DC Animated Movie Universe.

The DC Animated Universe started in a post-credits scene for Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox and was then continued with Justice League: War. The DCAMU was heavily based on The New 52 era of storytelling in the comics. However, the New 52 line of comics concluded back in 2016, so it isn’t really a surprise that DC would want to go in a new direction with their animated movies.

A recent trailer for Apokolips War hinted at some major casualties in the film, so this could also be DC’s way to keep the stakes up in the final film. As we know, comic book characters are never actually dead. However, if they are calling this the final film in the series, some of these deaths could actually be permanent.

While it’s sad to see this series of movies go I am definitely excited to see where DC will take there animated movies from here on out. DC’s animated movies have been know throughout the fandom for their quality so I have no doubts that DC will continue this trend in their future movies.

This does not mean that DC will stop making animated movies. This only signals that the current continuity that spanned from Justice League: War to Justice League Dark: Apokolips War is ending. That also indicates that future movies such as Superman: Man of Tomorrow are still set to release, but they won’t be apart of the existing DC Animated Movie Universe set of movies.
