It looks like the Queen of Egypt may be making her return in a remake of Cleopatra that is now in development.
Gal Gadot and Patty Jenkins have made for quite the dynamic duo thanks to the success of Wonder Woman, along with their anticipated sequel, Wonder Woman 1984. Now it looks like they will be taking on a new challenge and film to work on together.
Cleopatra Is Make On The Nile
According to Deadline, Paramount Pictures has won the bidding to work on a new version of Cleopatra. Gadot will be taking on the title role with Jenkins directing. The movie is set to be produce by Charles Roven from Atlas entertainment. The movie’s script will be written by Laeta Kalogridis. Kalogridis who have worked on scripts for other movies such as Alexander, Shutter Island and Alita: Battle Angel.

The tale of the Egyptian Queen is primed to potentially be a big female empowerment movie with Jenkins directing, Kalogridis writing, and Gadot acting. This will be the second movie starring the character after legendary actress Elizabeth Taylor portrayed Cleopatra in the 1963 film of the same name. The movie won four Oscars and legendarily almost shut down 20th Century Fox with its huge production costs.
The Cleapatra remake has been on the minds of many in Hollywood for many years, with other actresses previously rumored for the role, such as Angelina Jolie and Lady Gaga. Meanwhile, Gal Gadot and Jenkins have finished work on the sequel to Wonder Woman, with the movie presently set to release in theaters on Christmas day.
