A new rumor has been surfaced that The Batman star Robert Pattinson has been pushed to breaking point by director Matt Reeves.
DC’s upcoming film, The Batman has suffered multiple setbacks this year, first, the production was scrapped in March after the pandemic took hold and again in September after Robert Pattinson reportedly caught the virus. Last month it was reported that the film’s stunt team had also been forced into self-isolation after another positive test.
Apparently, there are more challenges The Batman is facing.
The Batman Has Not Made Robert Pattinson Happy
As first reported by The Sun, the filming process has been called grueling for star Robert Pattinson and it’s reportedly a result of director Matt Reeves’ perfectionism. The report says that Pattinson is doing upwards of 50 takes of a scene sometimes, all inside the bulky and hot Batman suit, which is leaving him as well as the crew reportedly exhausted.
“Filming has been a gruelling process, especially for Robert, as Matt is such a perfectionist.” The newspaper site’s supposed insider tells them that Pattinson, “has been pushed to breaking point by ‘control freak’ director Matt Reeves”.
The Sun isn’t exactly a definitive source of information about upcoming superhero projects, but lately, when it comes to The Batman, it appears the U.K. tabloid has some insight into what’s happening. Recently they reported about positive COVID tests on the set of the DC film and now they claim to have details on the tension between director Matt Reeves and star Robert Pattinson.
The Sun’s source said:
“He’ll insist on doing scenes over and over again and get bogged down in the tiny detail. SomeÂtimes it’s like he doesn’t know when to stop”. They also added that while Reeves has done other high-profile films like Cloverfield and the Planet of the Apes trilogy, he hasn’t done a film of this scale, and hence the pressure is on.
“Matt has done blockÂbusters before, but this is another level. Batman is arguably the most popular superhero of all and by the time the film is released it will be the Dark Knight’s first solo movie in ten years. Warner Bros can’t afford for the fanbase to be disappointed and have thrown £90 million at the film. No one is denying that this is a high stakes production and that Matt is feeling the pressure to get it right,” the source added.
“But Robert has had a tough time on these franchise movies before. He hated Twilight by the time it wrapped, and the last thing anyone wants is for him to become jaded,” the source continued. And Pattinson shouldn’t become burned out, especially on the first film of a franchise starter, so hopefully, that is not the case. If things are chaotic on the set, it may cause damage to the movie production.
Wanting perfection in doing something is good, but forcing it too much on others may not be ideal. There isn’t any proper indication in the report that the situation got beyond repair during production. So I’m assuming that there’s no problem between the director and the actor and it will not effect the rest of the filming.

Because it’s a rumor, we shouldn’t take this too seriously until more evidence emerges. This is a story that needs to be taken with a grain of salt. However, if it’s true, hopefully the situation will cool down and everything will work out safely, before it has major ramifications on the franchise and those involved.
The Batman is currently slated to hit theaters on March 4th, 2022.
