#ReleaseTheSnyderCut: Associate Producer Adam Stabelli Previews The Long-Awaited Release

Zack Snyder’s Justice League is only one day away and fans are, of course, anxiously awaiting the film’s release on HBO Max.

I had a chance to talk to fan-turned honorary Associate Producer, Adam Stabelli, who talked about his involvement in the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut movement and what he is looking forward to seeing in the movie:

The Illuminerdi: “What was your role in the #ReleseTheSnyderCut movement?”

Adam Stabelli: “My role in the movement really began once the leaks started to come out of what Zack Snyder shot. Once I learned what his vision was, I refused to see the theatrical cut of JL in theaters. I felt betrayed because I had been such a big fan of Man of Steel and Batman v Superman. I wanted to see how Snyder would tackle the Justice League. I started using the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut hashtag on Twitter. And once the shirts and merch started to appear, I bought some to support Zack and to help donate to AFSP (American Foundation for Suicide Prevention).”

The Illuminerdi: “How did the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut movement get started?”

Adam Stabelli: “The movement started when people went out to see Justice League theatrically and discovered what a hack job it was. How much of Snyder’s vision had been removed. The hashtag started gaining ground. People started to pay attention. They flew a banner over Warner Brothers. They showed up to Comic-Con with banners using the hashtag. They wouldn’t leave WB alone. They wanted Snyder’s vision. And I supported that one hundred percent.”

The Illuminerdi: “What were your thoughts when Zack Snyder’s Justice League was finally announced?”

Adam Stabelli: “It felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. I felt so happy for Zack, Deborah, the cast, the crew, and everyone who wanted to see what Zack shot. They pulled off the impossible. They truly made movie history happen.”

The Illuminerdi: “What were your thoughts when Zack Snyder made you all Associate Producers?”

Adam Stabelli: “I was happy. Because we all made this happen through raising awareness of Zack’s cut and raising money for AFSP. We all did this. It wasn’t just one person.”

The Illuminerdi: “Which character’s story are you most excited to see pan out in the Snyder Cut?”

Adam Stabelli: “Superman. I wanna see how Snyder brings Superman back to life and how he has to readjust to life. How he decides to help the League save the world. How he finally finds his place in the world.”

The Illuminerdi: “What are you most excited for other fans to see in the Snyder Cut?”

Adam Stabelli: “I’m excited for other fans to see what Zack had planned. He’s been giving us teases in black and white since he left the movie in 2017. But we’re getting a four-hour film. We’ve barely scratched the surface.”

The Illuminerdi: “Who is your favorite Justice League member?”

Adam Stabelli: “Batman. Ben Affleck has done a masterful job bringing my favorite character to life. He’s my favorite cinematic Batman. Easily.”

The Illuminerdi: “What is your favorite film set in the DCEU so far?”

Adam Stabelli: “Man of Steel. I just love how Snyder brings Superman’s world to life. What you see in that film is exactly how the world would react if a being of Superman’s power existed in our world. And the action is fantastic.”

The Illuminerdi: “What are your thoughts on the likelihood of a follow-up to Zack Snyder’s Justice League?”

Adam Stabelli: “I think if Zack Snyder’s Justice League is very successful, there’s no reason why HBO Max wouldn’t give Zack a call and ask him to make JL 2 and 3. They’re leaving money on the table if they don’t. I wanna see him finish his full 5-part arc. And I know I’m not alone on that.”
