Royal Crackers, here we come!
Adult Swim announced today that two all new-original series from the creators Jason Ruiz, Michael Cusack and Zach Hadel would be picked up.
The first project created by Ruiz (Murder Police) will introduce fans to the cracker Hornsby family in a new half-hour comedy series called “Royal Cracker.” The second project involving Cusack (YOLO: Crystal Fantasy) who is also partnering again with the network alongside Hadel (Hellbenders), also introduces “Smiling Friends,” a self-help corporation.

In Smiling Friends, Smiling Friends Inc. lends a helping hand to any city inhabitant who calls their hotline with their troubling situation. No matter how absurd, the folks at Smiling Friends will send it representative to save the day which the characters feature cynical Charlie and star employee Pim. According to a press release, the show time length is a quarter-hour.
Royal Crackers Have Smiling Friends
The pilot for Smiling Friends ,originally aired during Adult Swim’s 2019 April Fool’s Day to a massive fan reaction. On Adult Swim digital platforms, the pilot has generated 1.3 Million views and is the number one most watched episode on AdultSwim.som since its release. Cusack’s first show with Adult Swim, YOLO: Crystal Fantasy regularly won the half-hour across ad-supported cable among all adult demos. Additionally, it beat the keys late-night competition by mostly double and triple digits among young adult demos-
As for “Royal Crackers” since it is a half-hour animated series, the show follows two brothers : Stebe who is a family man with a wife and child; Theo Jr., a single, bass guitar player trying to relieve his glory days. They both live in their comatose father’s home waiting form him to die (he never does) so they can inherit his cracker company empire. Royal Crackers creator Ruiz, is also serving as executive producer for the show along side Seth Cohen. The series is produced by Titmouse and will premiere in 2022 on Adult Swim.
Ruiz first started creating web animation at age 12 and was the first writer to emerge from the Fox/20th Joint Inkubation Program with a completed pilot. He was also listed in The News York Times as one of five rising animators to watch, which also includes Rebecca Sugar and Justin Roiland. Ruiz also previously created created and developed original animated content for Super Deluxe and Fox.
