One of the Dark Knight’s most popular and iconic Animated Feature Film will make a grand return. It has been announced by Warner Bros. Studios Home Entertainment that Batman: Year One will be remastered and a new bonus focusing on iconic Batman supporting character Jim Gordon.
The remaster will be the 10th Anniversary Celebration of the iconic animated feature that debuted back in 2011. The animated film was considered a successful hit with longtime Batman fans and also received positive review from critics. Critics praised the animation and keeping faith of the source material from the comic book series’ original story.
The animated film was also a commercial success grossing 6.1 Million dollars against a 3.5 Million budget. The animated film was based on the iconic Year One storyline of Batman’s storied mythology. Year One was written by iconic comic book writer Frank Miller.
The History of Batman: Year One
The hit comic book series first appeared on February of 1987 The storyline went through four issues and ended in May of 1987. The comic book series became a successful hit and is considered one of the best stories in Batman’s mythology. The story’s success also help shaped Miller into a highly successful career. Miller is known for writing many iconic superhero storylines and graphic novels of Marvel’s Daredevil.
Miller also created iconic Daredevil supporting character Elektra. Miller then also wrote another iconic Batman storyline called The Dark Knight Returns which in also became a successful animated feature film. Other work’s of Miller also include 300 and Sin City.
Year One recounts Batman’s first year as a crime-fighter and a vigilante. The story also explores the life of recently transferred DC’s Iconic Gotham Police Detective and future Commissioner James Gordon. The storyline then eventually builds towards their first memorable encounter through trials and turbulence.
But eventually in the end the origin of their iconic alliance against Gotham City’s criminal underworld. With the remaster on the way hopefully new fans and audiences will get to experience this hit animated film again in a new light.

Home Entertainment (WBHE) celebrates the 10th anniversary of the DC Universe Movies release Batman: Year One with a fully-remastered version of the film and a newly-created bonus feature, Reinventing Gordon. Originally released on Blu-ray and DVD in 2011, Batman: Year One is based on the landmark 1987 DC titles from 12-time Eisner Award winner and Eisner Award Hall of Fame member Frank Miller and illustrator David Mazzucchelli. The film depicts young Bruce Wayne’s return to Gotham City in his first attempts to fight injustice as a costumed Super Hero. The playboy billionaire chooses the guise of a giant bat to combat crime, creates an early bond with a young Lieutenant James Gordon (who is already battling corruption from inside the police department), inadvertently plays a role in the birth of Catwoman, and helps to bring down a crooked political system that infests Gotham City.
Six-time Emmy® Award winner Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad, Trumbo, Your Honor) and Gotham star Ben McKenzie (Southland, The O.C.) lead a star-studded cast as Lieutenant James Gordon and Bruce Wayne/Batman, respectively. Eliza Dushku (Dollhouse, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) provides the voice of Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Katee Sackhoff (The Mandalorian, Battlestar Galactica) gives voice to Detective Sarah Essen, and the late Alex Rocco (The Godfather) is the voice of crime lord Carmine Falcone.

Animation legend Bruce Timm (Batman: The Animated Series) is executive producer of Batman: Year One. Other executive producers are Sam Register, Michael Uslan, and the late Benjamin Melniker.
The 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Combo Pack features an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc in 4K with HDR, a Blu-ray disc featuring the film in hi-definition, and a digital version of the movie.
