Peacemaker actor Chukwudi Iwuji has officially joined the production of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3.
Marvel Studios’ cosmic storyline is about to take things to a whole new level over the next couple of years within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is already being seen to an extent with the latest theatrical release in Eternals. This will largely come with three new appearances by the ever-popular Guardians of the Galaxy, who are set to play a supporting role in 2022’s Thor: Love and Thunder and will come to Disney+ with the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special by the end of the year.
These two entries will precede the team’s next blockbuster theatrical outing in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which has seen more than its fair share of issues prior to going into development. The first two movies set the stage perfectly for the end to the trilogy, as did Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, and now the team has the opportunity for their most epic adventure to date about 18 months from now.
Part of this mission will undoubtedly be focused on finding the 2014 version of Zoe Saldaña’s Gamora after she fled Earth in the aftermath of the battle against Thanos in Avengers: Endgame. However, the team will also come into contact with some powerful new players that will quickly make a name for themselves in the story.

This effort will be led by MCU newcomer Will Poulter, who will embody the insanely powerful cosmic being Adam Warlock after his first true tease in a post-credits scene from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. The Sovereign creation will be a focal point in this new movie, although there are no details known on how he will fit in among the classic bunch of a-holes.
Chukwudi Iwuji Joins Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3
Also joining the film is Chukwudi Iwuji, but his role is currently being kept in the dark. That didn’t stop director James Gunn from teasing how important he will be to the movie though, as he recently shared this post on Twitter shortly after filming for the threequel began.
Chukwudi Iwuji first formed a relationship with Gunn during their time working together on Warner Bros.’ Peacemaker, which is preparing for its release within the DC Extended Universe in January 2022. While it’s unclear how major his role will be with DC or Marvel, Gunn is clearly looking forward to having the actor join the fray in the Guardians’ next theatrical adventure.
Iwuji has largely made his name through guest appearances on TV shows and has experience with live theaters as well, with his biggest role thus far coming alongside Keanu Reeves in John Wick: Chapter 2. Thankfully, the actor’s time with Gunn on Peacemaker should serve as the perfect gateway for him into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where he will etch his name into the legacy of Marvel’s epic space epic franchise.

With Guardians 3 now only a few days into filming for its Phase 4 release, fans will be keeping a close eye out not only for Iwuji’s eventual role in the movie, which seems to be quite the big one considering Gunn’s remarks on Twitter. Whether it’s something like the Living Tribunal or something else with ties to Adam Warlock will still be a mystery for the time being, although it appears that all parties involved are ready to bring something truly special one the movie completes its work.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is currently filming and will release in theaters worldwide on May 5, 2023. What do you think of the newest addition to the MCU? What is your favorite Chukwudi Iwuji performance? Let us know in the comment section below or over on our social media!
