Did Spider-Man: No Way Home set up Mr. Negative as one of Spider-Man & Daredevil’s next MCU villains?
Mr. Negative was created by Dan Slott and Phil Jimenez in 2007, and his organization – called FEAST – just played a relevant role in No Way Home.Â

While Martin Li (AKA Mr. Negative) may not be as well-known as The Green Goblin, he is an astonishing supervillain in his own right. Stephen Oyoung voiced Li in the Insomniac Spider-Man video game, where he served as one of many villains hellbent on taking the webhead down. Oyoung is dying to tackle the role in the MCU next, as he explained to Comicbookmovie.com.Â
SPIDER-MAN ACTOR WANTS TO REPRISE ROLE IN MCU
“Honestly, if they’re casting Li, best wishes to the winning actor. But if we’re taking a mental walk, and in some strange and amazing universe I got to play Mister Negative again in a live-action version I’d wager what I’d bring is a continuity and consistency to character that fans might appreciate because the relationships are already baked into the performance…It’d be like visiting an old friend. Not to mention the physicality as well. I’d say I’m handy with a negative energy sword!”
-Stephen Oyoung
After surviving a sketchy and experimental procedure setup by Oscorp, Martin Li gained the ability to control negative energy. He can take over minds, pull his enemies into a dreamscape, and enhance the power and will of those he influences. Mr. Negative uses these powers, Kabuki masks and his connections as Martin Li to terrorize the city, attempting to get revenge on Norman Osborn.
Spider-Man & Daredevil Vs. FEAST?Â
When Mr. Li isn’t busy turning people into demon-slaves to service his dark agenda, he runs a nice, cozy little shelter called F.E.A.S.T, of Food, Emergency Aid, Shelter & Training. This shelter exists to help New York’s downtrodden and disenfranchised get back on their own two feet. On paper, their mission is the same as May Parker’s. “If you help someone, you help everyone”.
Unfortunately for the Parker family and New York’s homeless, FEAST often brings about more harm than help. Even though Li’s life as a civilian fighting for FEAST is a reflection of his positivity, the darkness and evil of Mr. Negative and his Inner Demons gang stirs up far too much trouble for the benevolent organization to handle.
Spider-Man & Daredevil Would Improve With Negative As The Villain
May Parker worked for FEAST in Spider-Man: No Way Home. In fact, Norman Osborn met Peter and May upon arriving at a FEAST shelter while in search of help. May was clearly an important part of the organization, perhaps so central that FEAST would continue to use her name even in death.
Imagine a Spider-Man sequel where FEAST got involved in controversial or unethical business. What if they used May Parker’s name as a scapegoat? We now live in a world where no one knows who Peter Parker is, so he wouldn’t be able to credibly refute FEAST’s claims in public.
While we don’t know the extent of their relationship, Spider-Man: No Way Home strongly implies that Aunt May and Matt Murdock know one another. What if they have an unseen history together in the MCU? In that hypothetical, Spider-Man & Daredevil would teamup against Mr. Negative in order to protect the legacy of May Parker.
Alternatively, FEAST could be used to set up Mr. Negative and the Inner Demons as villains of Spider-Man OR Daredevil independently, without further crossover needed. Daredevil needs a great villain to fight as he comes back to the MCU, and few are as compelling as Martin Li.
In the Spider-Man PS4 game, Li joins the Sinister Six for a time. The possibilities for MCU greatness with Mr. Negative are immense and untapped, and the groundwork for this supervillain’s debut has laid. Hopefully we see payoff in the form of Mr. Negative battling Spider-Man & Daredevil sooner rather than later.
