Kevin Feige Is Reportedly “Stoked” From Scenes Of Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is on its way, and it already has the approval of the MCU’s most brilliant minds.

Kevin Feige is the most successful producer in Hollywood. The film side of Marvel Studios has generated over $20 billion in revenue and the TV side has driven countless subscribers to Disney’s direct-to-streaming platform, Disney+. Up next for Feige in Phase Four: 2022. What does 2022 consist of, you ask? 3 films, 4 TV series, and 1 television special (could be 2).

Overall, it’s 8-9 projects, and we’re not even including Morbius and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One). Soon enough, it’ll be time for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is the fourth installment of the Guardians franchise. Now you’re asking, “But it’s Vol. 3, not Vol. 4?” Well, yes and no. You’re forgetting about The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, which both Kevin Feige and James Gunn have confirmed that the special will be canon to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We might also want to count Thor: Love and Thunder, as the film will feature many Guardians in prominent roles. However, for the time being the action is focused on Guardians Vol. 3, and so far, Kevin Feige is loving it.

In a recent interview with Collider, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 director James Gunn spoke about Chukwudi Iwuji’s performance in the threequel, and how excited everyone at Marvel was about the scenes they’ve seen from the film so far. Here’s what Gunn said:

It’s going great. Chukwudi, who plays Murn in Peacemaker, is one of the main characters in the movie and people are freaking out over how good this guy is. Literally freaking out. I think that I’m really happy. I gave a bunch of scenes to Marvel right before Christmas break. Kevin [Feige] went… They were all really, really, really stoked. But also, it’s not going to be the movie people… It’s different than what people are going to expect. It’s a hard road, but I’m really happy with it so far.

Gunn also touched on The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. The 40-50 minute special is due out on Disney+ in 11 months, but guess what? Principal photography hasn’t even started yet, according to Gunn. Full quote:

It’s still upcoming in the shoot. We were supposed to shoot one day in LA, and there’s too much Omicron around, so we couldn’t do it. We’re going to have to fit it in. I haven’t started yet. I’m excited to. It’s fun. The holiday special is… I’m almost jealous of it, even though I wrote it because people freak out so much on how much they love the script for the holiday special that I’m almost like, “Well, wait. I’ve got this movie here I’ve been working on for two years. You love the holiday special that I literally wrote in a very short amount of time.” But, it is really funny and really good.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 looks to be proceeding at a stable pace, and is looking to make its release date of May 5, 2023. The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, however, is a totally different story. Not even started filming? And it releases in 11 months…….nah, what is there to worry about? Marvel’s got this (we hope). Anyway, for Chukwudi Iwuji, he’s been rumored to play the High Evolutionary in the film.

For those not familiar with the character, he’s a villain from the Marvel comics that experiments on children to gain power. It would fit perfectly if he was to play the villain in the film, but remember, Adam Warlock’s also involved, and we don’t know how just yet. And for Kevin Feige to be “stoked” from scenes of the film……that takes a lot.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will release in theaters on May 5, 2023. Catch Guardians of the Galaxy and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 streaming now on Disney+. What did you think of this news?
