As it turns out, a few new set photos from the film have surfaced showing Barbara Gordon hanging out with a female character, played by Ivory Aquino.

Who Is The Newest Batgirl Addition?

Many speculate that Aquino could be playing Alysia Yeoh, a close friend and roommate of Barbara Gordon, and one of the first major trans characters to appear in mainstream comic books. While the character’s casting was never officially announced, there was a casting call for an actor to play a “mid-20s Asian-American trans woman”.

The recently revealed Batman and Robin Mural has also been updated as it now displays Michael Keaton’s Batman, while Robin is barely visible anymore.

The upcoming DC movie is written by Christina Hodson (Birds of Prey) and directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah. It also stars: J.K. Simmons as Jim Gordon, Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne/Batman and Brendan Fraser as the villainous Firefly. Jacob Scipio, who already worked with the directing duo on Bad Boys For Life, also joined the film in a currently unknown role. He’s been rumored to play the villainous Killer Moth and/or a potential love interest for Barbara Gordon.
