The Academy Award nominated actress Florence Pugh is in negotiations to join the highly anticipated Dune: Part 2.
Florence Pugh has quickly become one of the greatest and most sought-after actresses of her generation. After joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe in last years Black Widow and the Disney+ show Hawkeye as Yelena Belova, she already has a few more projects down the line. That includes a role in Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated next film Oppenheimer and an Academy Award for her role in Greta Gerwig’s modern classic Little Women. She first rose to fame with her universally loved performance in Ari Aster’s horror film Midsommar.

Now it is being reported that she is in negotiations to join Denis Villeneuve’s second chapter in his adaptation of the beloved sci-fi classic. Dune was a box office hit, reaching around $400 Million (even though it was available to stream on HBO Max) at the worldwide box-office and is also currently up with 11 Academy Award Nomination and various wins in other Award circuits. Quickly after its theatrical release, Warner Bros. and Legendary confirmed the sequel for a set 2023 release.
Will Florence Pugh Play Princess Irulan?
Dune: Part 2 is currently in pre-production and is still expected to shoot this summer. If the negotiations are successful, Pugh would play one of three new major characters, Princess Irulan. She is the daughter of the Emperor Shaddam IV, the person responsible for sending the Atreides to Arrakis, and will eventually get involved with Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet).
Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen is also currently being cast. He’ll become Paul’s nemesis.
Florence Pugh was a hot canditatde online for the Part of Princess Irulan, while most people would like to see either Barry Keoghan (Eternals) or Robert Pattinson (The Batman) for the part of Feyd-Rautha.
But there are still some obstacles, for any deal, ahead. The script is still being written and Pugh is said to be waiting for the latest draft, Also, her busy schedule could be a problem, as she is also in contention for the leading role in the Madonna biopic and it is unknown when that film would start production, if she gets the part.
The actress has a busy year ahead with Olivia Wilde’s Don’t Worry Darling, Netflix’s and Sebastián Lelio’s The Wonder and Zach Braff’s A Good Person.
