Survivor 42 Episode 2 Review – Love Is In The Air

Love is in the air in the second episode of Survivor 42.

Love is in the air in this week’s episode of Survivor 42! Warning, this article will contain spoilers for Survivor 42 episode 2, so if you have not seen the episode, you have been warned.

The episode starts with Ika reflecting on Zach’s vote out from the night before. Drea comes up to Swati and Tori and proposes a plan to take out the boys. She also tells them about her extra vote. Immediately the two plot to turn on her because she has become too powerful in the game.

At Vati, Hai is struggling with the food situation as he is vegan. He eventually decided to eat meat during Survivor as otherwise, he would become a liability to the tribe due to lack of food. Mike, a retired firefighter also finds the beware advantage which contains a hidden immunity idol. However, similar to last season, it cannot be activated unless it is found by all three tribes and they must say a secret phrase. He also loses his vote until it is activated. Daniel hopes to never have the idols activated so they don’t have to worry about them come to merge.

At Taku, Maryanne’s positive attitude is starting to rub people the wrong way. Marya, a stay-at-home Mom also tells the tribe about her brother who was a nurse that died of COVID-19 back in 2020.

At the Immunity Challenge, Maryanne is deeply saddened to see that Zach was voted out at the last Tribal Council as she reveals she had a crush on him. This is something that is mentioned multiple times throughout the episode and is honestly quite wholesome. The tribes are also competing for reward which includes a fishing kit.

Vati and Ika ended up making it through the challenge. In a close race between Ika and Taku, Taku is sent to Tribal Council where they will lose another member of their tribe.

At Taku, Jonathan, a beach service company owner, and Omar, a veterinarian, make a pact to protect each other. They are also close with Lindsay which automatically gives them the majority. The vote is between Maryanne and Marya. Maryanne because of her young / over-positive personality and Marya because she could become a threat later on.

At Tribal Council, Maryanne receives her extra vote from the summit and Marya plays her shot in the dark. She is deemed not safe and is sent home in a 4-0 vote making her the third person eliminated from the game.

Episode 2 Highlight Players

In this section of the review, we will take a chance to take a look at some of the highlight players in this week’s episode of Survivor. Those players are Daniel, Lydia, Jonathan, and Omar.

Starting with Lydia, she was an absolute beast in the challenge. In the end, the other two tribes didn’t even seem like they were close to Vati. This challenge is one that requires incredible social skills and she delivered.

Daniel seems to be playing an extremely strategic game at this point. As soon as he learns about Mike’s idol he immediately starts thinking about how they need to use or not use it. I think his plan to have Mike never activate the idol is absolutely genius. I cannot wait to see if it pays off.

Lastly, we have Jonathan and Omar who are in complete control of Taku. Decided to take out Marya was more than likely the better move as Maryanne isn’t as big of a strategic threat. With Lindsay on their side they will become unstopable if they can win immunity challenges. Even if they lose, Maryanne has her extra vote but unless Lindsay sides with her it won’t work. After they they can just take out Lindsay depning on the status of her advantage ammulet. It will be interesting to see how thing play out on this tribe.

Overall this episode wasn’t as action-packed as the premiere, but was still a good episode nonetheless. We are getting to see a lot more of the contestants compared to last season. This episode also had some impressive strategic plays that could shake things up down the line.
