Disney has released the official trailer and release date of their new upcoming fantasy reality show, The Quest.
Welcome to the world of Everealm! In this magical realm, adventure and danger await eight young heroes. These young heroes must work together in stopping a powerful sorceress from destroying a mythical kingdom. Well, that’s the epic storyline in Disney’s new hybrid fantasy-based reality show, The Quest. What fans might not know is that the upcoming series is a reboot of the original 2014’s The Quest. Disney has recently revealed the new fantasy-based reality show’s trailer and release date.
The Quest Official Trailer
I heard about The Quest back when I was in college (my first year, to be exact) from one of my club members in my University’s Disney Club (Yes, we have a Disney Club). Unfortunately, I didn’t have the time to watch it or have the interest. But after learning more about the original show and watching the trailer, I am in. I’m curious about the new premise Disney has for the show.
Where The Magical Journey First Began: The Twelve Paladins And The Sunspear
2014’s The Quest is one of the reality series genre’s most unique shows. The original show was a reality fantasy-based competition series. The show’s format involved twelve contestants competing in a high fantasy kingdom setting called Everealm. The original series’s storyline was scripted, and the contestants interacted with actors during the competition. However, the eliminations were actual. The show ran for one season and first premiered on ABC on July 31, 2014.

The original plot or scripted storyline of 2014’s The Quest focused on the magical realm of Everealm, which is part of twelve other coexisting peaceful kingdoms. However, the peace of those twelve kingdoms becomes threatened by an evil power known as Verlox. Every time Verlox appears, three mystical Fates summon twelve heroes or Paladins from our world to stop this dark power. Each Paladin receives a unique piece from a powerful mythical weapon called the Sunspear. The Fates test each Paladin until one emerges as the true hero wielding the Sunspear to defeat Verlox.
Welcome Back To Everealm!
Disney’s reboot of The Quest will also take place in the world of Everealm. The new series will have elements and nods from the original 2014 show. Instead of twelve contestants, the new series will feature only eight contestants. The upcoming series will also feature new unique challenges. Each contestant’s challenges will test their mind, body, and soul; just like in the original series, only one true hero will emerge.

The storyline for the new show will involve these eight contestants (heroes) saving a kingdom from a powerful sorceress. The series will also feature the contestants trying to fulfill an ancient prophecy. The intentions of why this powerful sorceress wants to wreak havoc in the kingdom are unclear. The series will also feature the return of the mystical fates. Disney’s The Quest will premiere on Disney Plus on May 11, 2022.
