The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special Disney Investor Day 2020

With a cinematic universe spanning 27 movies(and counting) with a vast and eclectic set of characters as the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there are bound to be crossovers galore. Characters have been appearing in each other’s movies since Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark appeared in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk.

The upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy: Holiday Special will continue this trend. As seen in behind-the-scenes set photos from The Daily Experience, the Disney plus special will have a cameo one might not expect. Adorning the walls of the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood, Kumail Nanjiani’s Kingo from Eternals is featured on movie posters who appears to have become a leading Bollywood star.

In photos from the Daily Mail, Guardians stars Dave Bautista and Pom Klementieff were seen in Hollywood in full costume as Drax and Mantis, respectively. The pair of Guardians were seen amongst the wax statues adorned with Christmas decorations at Madame Tussauds. Klementieff’s Mantis was seen in her outfit as seen in Vol.2, while Bautista’s Drax the Destroyer now sports a hooded vest, which is sure to chafe his nipples.

Nothing much is known of the special from director James Gunn, which was filmed concurrently with the upcoming installment, aside from the fact it will take place between the Guardian’s next outing in this July’s Thor: Love and Thunder and next year’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3. The special will feature the return of each of the main members of the team, including Zoe Saldaña’s Gamora, who is now displaced thanks to the time-traveling shenanigans as seen in Avengers: Endgame. Guardians of the Galaxy: Holiday Special will premiere later this year on Disney +.
