The upcoming Ahsoka TV series, set to release on Disney+, added another name to its roster. Matthew Law (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and The Oval), was reportedly cast in a major role in the upcoming series. At the present time, Law’s role is still unknown.
Big characters like Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn have yet to be cast or formally announced. However up until this point Law’s roles have been relatively small, so it is not likely that he landed one of those characters. The series started shooting on the 9th of this month, so it won’t take long for us to find out exactly what role Law will be playing.
Matthew Law Joins A Talented Star Wars Cast
Ahsoka’s cast is quite respectable so far. Names like Rosario Dawson, Natasha Liu Bordizzo (Sabine Wren), Hayden Christensen (Anakin Skywalker), Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Ivanna Sakhno, and Ray Stevenson (rumored to be playing Gilad Pellaeon, an ally of Thrawn). The upcoming series is supposed to pick up where the character left off after her appearances in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett.
Who Is Ahsoka Tano?
Ahsoka Tano was first introduced to the world of Star Wars as a Jedi Padawan of Anakin Skywalker. She was a supporting character in Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008) and the television series that followed. She was also featured in the 2019 Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker as a voice-over cameo. After multiple appearances across other Star Wars projects, Ahsoka finally made her live-action debut during the second season of The Mandalorian and then returned to the role in the spin-off series, The Book of Boba Fett. After the success of the live-action take on the character, Rosario Dawson earned her own series which is set to debut in 2023.
It wasn’t all unicorns and rainbows at first though. The character was disliked by the fans when she was first introduced. She eventually developed a more complex background as time went on. Ahsoka is now seen as a fan favorite amongst many fans of the franchise.

Ahsoka was introduced as a way of forcing Anakin to transform into the more focused and responsible character he eventually turned out to be. We all know how that story ended, but Ahsoka was a vital part of the development of the character that eventually became Darth Vader.
The Making of Ahsoka Tano
The character’s initial name was “Ashla”. George Lucas later renamed the character after the Indian emperor Ashoka, and the spelling shifted to what we see today thanks to Henry Gilroy.
Dave Filoni, the supervising director and writer of The Clone Wars, came up with the idea of Ahsoka being a 14-year-old Jedi. Her character development went through different iterations due to Filoni not being comfortable with the idea of a grown man writing from a 14-year-old girl’s perspective.
