Digimon World Next Order is finally being released on PC and Nintendo Switch after 5 years since its initial release. The sequel to the original Digimon World was only released on PlayStation, with many fans hoping for the game to be ported after Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth: Complete Edition was released. The game will include new features and the announcement also teased new releases from the Digimon franchise soon. Fans will be able to finally enjoy this Digimon game on new platforms during 2023.
Digimon World Next Order is an adventure role-playing game originally released on 17th March 2016 for the PlayStation Vita in Japan, but the demand from Digimon fans led to its release in the west on the 26th of January 2017 for the PlayStation 4. This was a direct sequel to the story in the 1999 Digimon World game, which was favored among the fans of the franchise.
The game is set within the Digital World with the player as the Digidestined who must restore order in the world, with his two Digimon partners, and stop Machinedramon from running rampant. The game also featured an aging system that causes the Digimon to die and be reborn into a new Digi-egg, for various possible Digimon.
Digimon World Next Order finally releasing on PC and Switch
This epic Digimon game includes the stunning visuals and gameplay seen in the original release but will also come with new gameplay options. These are new features for both new and old fans to enjoy the game including ‘Beginner Mode’ for a lower game difficulty and a ‘Running Mode’ to help players move faster in the Digital World. The announcement was delivered by a new producer, Takahiro Yokota, along with Kazumasa Habu, the producer of Digimon Games at Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc. The trailer for the game was released and highlights the features of the game, which includes previews of the story experience in the title. The game includes a choice between a male or female character, 2 Digimon partners that you raise and train, an evolved battle system with real-time action, and ExE evolution that allows for DNA (Jogress) Digivolution. It is fantastic that this iconic game will finally be on gaming platforms outside of PlayStation, especially after fans dived at Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth when it was ported to the PC and Switch. The gameplay similar to the original Digimon game was a joy to experience, with the amazing visuals that were captivating. It will be exciting to play through the Digimon adventure and even has the two new options for both old and new players to keep the experience rich and fresh. With Digimon Survive recently released from the franchise, it will be interesting to find out what the Digimon Project team have planned and there will be extreme anticipation for the next release.
Digimon World Next Order for PC via Steam and the Nintendo Switch will be released on February 22nd, 2023. The release could also follow with DLC, but no announcements have been made.
