PAPA’S FREEZERIA DELUXE GETS A NEW TRAILER
Flipline Studios is an independent game development studio founded by Tony Solary and Matt Neff in 2004, located in Cleveland Ohio. From 2006 to 2020, Flipline Studios focused on creating Flash games for their website. They created an assortment of games on their website, covering genres such as puzzles, platforming, and time management. One of the company’s best-known series is the Papa Louie series.
The Papa Louie series began in 2006 with the platformer Papa Louie: When Pizzas Attack! It involved a chef named Papa Louie who explored far-off lands to rescue his loyal customers from an evil onion gang led by Sarge. A year later, Flipline released the first restaurant time management game in the series, Papa’s Pizzeria.
Until Adobe Flash’s discontinuation after 2020, Flipline’s website released numerous follow-ups to Pizzeria as well as two sequels to the original platformer. In the restaurant games, the player would take orders, prepare the food, and serve it to the customers, earning in-game points and tips to boost their rank. The platformer sequels expanded the playable cast and added challenges to increase replayability. Every new installment had its set of quality-of-life changes to improve gameplay balance and variety.
Since 2012, Flipline Studios went into the app market by remaking their desktop games for tablets and smartphones. Initially, smartphone and tablet versions of the games were mutually exclusive, subtitled with HD and To Go! respectively. Starting with Papa’s Donuteria to Go!, the smartphone and tablet versions both use the To Go! subtitle. After the discontinuation of Adobe Flash, the Papa Louie restaurant games became completely app-based beginning with Papa’s Mocharia to Go!.
I SCREAM, YOU SCREAM, WE ALL SCREAM FOR FREEZERIA DELUXE!
On February 15, 2023, Flipline Studios uploaded a trailer for their upcoming project, Papa’s Freezeria Deluxe. It is an updated re-release of the fourth restaurant game, Papa’s Freezeria, originally released on Aug. 5, 2011. The HD version was released on October 30, 2013, with the To Go! version on February 27, 2014.
In all versions of Papa’s Freezeria, the player takes on the role of Alberto or Penny, who landed a summer job at the titular ice cream shop on Calypso Island. Just when they think they would have a relaxing summer, Papa Louie leaves them in charge of the Freezeria during the peak of tourist season.
They must pour the ice cream, add the appropriate mixables and syrups, blend the sundaes to the right consistency, and top them with fluffy whipped cream and toppings to make tasty summer treats for the customers. Because the original game is about a decade old, every quality-of-life change included up to this point is included in the new entry.
Foodini’s Mini-Games (first introduced in Papa’s Pancakeria), character customization (first introduced in Papa’s Wingeria), holidays (first introduced in Papa’s Cupcakeria), specials (first introduced in Papa’s Cheeseria), and score details (first introduced in Papa’s Mocharia) are just a few examples of what has changed from the first iteration of Papa Louie’s ice cream shop. There will be 143 customers available in the game, including many who did not appear in previous versions of the game.
No exact date has been confirmed, but Papa’s Freezeria Deluxe will be released on Steam for Windows PC sometime in 2023. For those who missed playing the Papa Louie games on the computer, this might just whet your appetite. Papa’s Freezeria Deluxe so far looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun.
