Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Will Crown a New World Champion in August 2023

This summer, the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game is set to heat up with two exciting releases and the grand Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2023 in Tokyo.

This summer, the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game (TCG) is set to make waves as part of the ongoing 25th Anniversary celebrations. Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. is thrilled to announce two exciting releases for Duel fans: Legendary Duelists: Soulburning Volcano and Speed Duel: Streets of Battle City. The grand finale? The Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2023 in Tokyo, where the world’s top Duelists will compete for the ultimate title.

Legendary Duelists: Soulburning Volcano

The set includes a Ghost Rare Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf and numerous reprints, making it easier than ever to build your Decks. Legendary Duelists: Soulburning Volcano is set to release on August 11, with a total of 62 cards in the set.

Speed Duel: Streets of Battle City

The box set includes 200 Common Cards, 20 Skill Cards, and 8 Secret Rares, including Slifer the Sky Dragon and Arkana’s red Dark Magician. Speed Duel: Streets of Battle City is set to hit the shelves on August 25.

At SDCC, we got to talk to Konami’s Billy Breaker, who told us a bit about this Speed Duel set. One of the best features is that the duelist abilities are designed to emulate their playstyle from the Battle City arc. This means that Joey Wheeler is unequivocally the best duelist to play as as we know he actually never loses and does get his Red Eyes back. While that happens off-screen, it does mean that Joey Wheeler beat Yugi when he had all three Egyptian God Cards, and Joey didn’t have his signature card. Joey Wheeler is the GOAT. Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2023

The pinnacle of a year of competitive Dueling, the Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2023 (WCS), will take place on August 5 and 6 at Tokyo Big Sight. A total of 28 qualified Duelists from the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG and Yu-Gi-Oh! OCG will compete in the Main Event tournament, with the last Duelist standing being crowned the new Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG World Champion.

Fans can enter a raffle for tickets to the WCS to spectate, participate in Public Events, and enjoy the special festivities. There will also be opportunities to Duel against WCS competitors eliminated in Day 1 of the WCS Main Event.
