Ahsoka is now at its halfway point after this week’s debut of the fourth episode. The first season will consist of eight episodes, with the season finale slated to air on October 3. Lucasfilm’s plan is to have The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Ahsoka culminate in a theatrical movie event that’s currently in the works.

Dave Filoni, who serves as creator, writer, and executive producer on Ahsoka, will direct this planned theatrical film, which does not yet have an official release date. Filoni also directed the first and the upcoming fifth episode of the season, which will be shown in theaters next week.

In the new series, former Jedi Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) searches for answers regarding the missing Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen), joined by her former apprentice, Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo). This new threat could mean the heir to the Empire and emerge as a new threat to a vulnerable galaxy and the budding New Republic, still weary from the Galactic Civil War.

Recent episodes have shown the conflict within Sabine, wanting to reunite with her lost comrade, Ezra Bridger, who was previously lost along with Thrawn in the finale of Star Wars Rebels. However, protecting the fate of the galaxy from Thrawn’s return might also mean never finding answers regarding the lost Ezra Bridger forever.

Ahsoka also stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead as General Hera Syndulla, who also makes her live-action debut in this series. The series has been quite the ride so far, so it’s pretty exciting that select fans will have the opportunity to watch a new episode of the show on the big screen next week.
