Netflix’s One Piece is officially getting a Season 2 and was announced by Oda-San himself in an amusing way.

The live-action adaptation of the world-beloved manga and anime series will get the continuation fans have been dying to hear about after only 2 weeks since release. This will also mean that fans will continue seeing the amazing performances of the legendary cast. In addition to the reveal, the latest announcement also teases the next big feature that will be adapted for the next chapter of the story.

The live-action 1st Season of One Piece was released on August 31, 2023 on Netflix. The incredible cast and crew have blessed fans with a fantastic adaptation that brings Eiichiro Oda’s characters to life. The featured cast includes Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Sanji. During the first week, the live-action adaptation of One Piece set a new record for Netflix as it surpassed Wednesday and Stranger Things as No 1 ranked TV series in 84 different countries around the world.

One Piece Will Return To Netflix as Oda Teases Season 2

The announcement was headed by Eiichiro Oda himself using a Transponder Snail to deliver the news of a second season. One Piece creator addressed fans around the world by naming them the ‘Straw Hat Grand Fleet’ as he thanks both longtime and new fans for supporting the live-action adaptation. After recognizing the responds around the world, Oda revealed the scripts are currently in-the-works and treated fans to the first teaser for the next installment. Although there is still a lot to be announced, Oda-Sensei did reveal the next character focused for the live-action adaptation.

This was revealed to be the Doctor of the Straw Hat Pirates, Tony Tony Chopper, who was revealed by Oda via new art in the clip. Although only a drawing of the character, the tease confirms that the live-action second season of One Piece will feature the future Senior Officer of the Straw Hat crew. The technique to bring life to the character has yet to be revealed, since Chopper is a 90cm reindeer humanoid, making the live-action version a new challenge. Now with the green light confirmed, fans can relax and enjoy the anticipation for the next Season.

Eiichiro Oda was the perfect choice to reveal the confirmation of the second season as fans have been anxiously waiting for the news. It was a nice touch to have Oda reveal the news via a Transponder Snail and it was a joy to hear his love for the global fandom. Seeing Oda tease the next season with Chopper was also a blessing as the character is one of the most highly anticipated additions to the story, especially as there are challenges in bring a non-human character to life. However, the team are likely already working on another great adaptation to finally bring the Straw Hat’s Doctor to life.

There currently isn’t a release date for season 2 of One Piece. All episodes of the 1st Season of the series are currently available on Netflix to stream.
