Promotional events and merchandise for 2023’s Godzilla Day have been announced by Toho International, the U.S. division of the Godzilla franchise’s distributors.
Godzilla Minus One is the 33rd Japanese and 37th overall film in the Godzilla franchise. The film follows Godzilla as he terrorizes Japan in World War II’s aftermath. The film is directed and written by Takashi Yamazaki, who previously featured the classic kaiju in his 2007 film, Always: Sunset on Third Street 2. Godzilla Minus One is unrelated to the Legendary Pictures’ MonsterVerse franchise, which has Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire coming out on April 12, 2024. This year’s Godzilla Day will be celebrated on November 3rd, the original Godzilla film’s 69th anniversary.
Godzilla Day 2023 Promises To Be as Big As The King Of The Monsters Himself
Godzilla Day is jam-packed with things for G-fans everywhere. To start, November 3, 2023, will be the day when tickets for Godzilla Minus One will be available to purchase. Jade City Foods will be hosting a Godzilla-themed event at Copper Rocket in Maitland, Florida, to promote their Godzilla Hot Sauce.

Various toy and collectible companies will also be joining in on the celebration. Funko will be releasing new Godzilla POP! figures, based on his appearance in the Netflix anime series, Godzilla Singular Point. Mondo has unveiled new vinyl soundtracks and figures for Godzilla Day, including the Mechagodzilla by Attack Peter figure (Silver variant) and Godzilla: 2000 Millennium Original Soundtrack 2XLP. Super7 has teased new Godzilla ReAction figures and preorders for wave 5 of their Ultimates line’s Godzilla figures.
Fathom Events will be hosting a one-day-only screening of Godzilla 2000 on November 1, 2023, two days before Godzilla Day.
A Closer Look At The Sheer Amount of Merchandise for This Year’s Godzilla Day
Besides what was listed above, the Godzilla Store will be offering limited time pre-orders on items like the exclusive SpaceGodzilla Soft Vinyl color variant. The store has implied they will have other surprises for the King of The Monsters’ big day. Surreal Entertainment will be distributing three Godzilla-themed items on Godzilla Day, such as Godzilla Trading Cards at 5 Below stores. A Godzilla and Mothra plush and the Godzilla Figural Coffee Mug can be purchased from YouTooz on November 3rd.

All of this merchandise really signals that Toho believes Godzilla Minus One will be a hit. It can also be a sign of Toho wanting to really take advantage of the international market to make the film a success. I’ve speculated about it before, but the incarnation of Godzilla in Godzilla Minus One may become the new “face” of the franchise, following in the Heisei design’s footsteps.
All of the glorious merch and events on Godzilla Day may be able to keep G-fans occupied until Godzilla Minus One releases internationally on December 1, 2023.
