Digimon Liberator was originally teased as an upcoming Digimon project that teased a brand-new mascot. The project was revealed to be a webcomic that will be released in 2024, featuring new characters and a story that will feature the Digimon card game. The Vital Bracelet series has previously been featured as the integrated product in Digimon Ghost Game and the current web novel series, Digimon Seekers. The last few weeks of 2023 finally featured the reveal of the project, along with a whole new team of characters.

Digimon Liberator Features Pteromon, Shoemon, and the First new Digivolutions

The mascot Digimon and fellow protagonist of Digimon Liberator were revealed to be called Pteromon and Shoemon. The full names and bios for the Rookie Digimon were revealed on Digimon Web. Their evolutions were also revealed by Digimon entries as Galemon and Shoeshoemon will be the Champion-level form of the partner Digimon, respectively. Both Pteromon and Shoemon were revealed to be partnered with the male and female tamers currently revealed for the new webcomic series.

Pteromon has already piqued our interest as a bird-type Digimon for the protagonist but the details about his horn were surprisingly interesting. Whereas most mascots Digimon are aligned with fire, this wind data Digimon uses its horn to perceive changes in the climate. His Champion form, Galemon, adds another level to its environmental sensitivity, with great relationships established with other Digimon mentioned for both. Galemon does look to be closer to a dragon-type monster, so hopefully, it will keep the avian qualities rather than continue the same dragon-line quirks of other series mascots for a change.

Shoemon is a fantastic new design that breaks the norm, with so many little details about its nature and quirks. Its odd eye placements and multiple mouths make it a genuine curiosity, especially since it’s hard to imagine what mouth the Puppet Digimon talks with. Shoeshoemon is another interesting design as the Champion level form, which appears to look like a type of squirrel. The bios suggest it’s a perfect mix between the animal and a Teddybear monster, which makes the ultimate level even more of an anticipation.

Digimon Liberator is an upcoming webcomic series starting in Spring 2024, with more announcements coming soon. The Digimon and characters will feature in an upcoming booster for the Digimon card game, with the release date for the first issue to be revealed soon.

Long time fan of Tokusatsu fan since Power Rangers was first released in the 90s. Whereas most Superhero fans grew up with DC Comics and Marvel, my childhood was surrounded by releases from Saban Entertainment such as Beetleborgs, along with anime, and other various fads of the generation. Anime is also a great passion with Digimon, That Time I Was Reincarnated As A Slime, and Demon Slayer being significant favorites. It was the love of both Power Rangers and Digimon that led to the path of becoming a Senior Writer for The Illuminerdi.
